+Simply Paul
I've been visiting Scotland every other year since 2003 to combine a holiday with caching (and cache placing/maintenance) and I've hosted a few events along the way. From the original Remote event on St Kilda in 2007, to 2013's mainland Britain's most westerly, via Shetland in 2009, and Ben Nevis CITO, Eigg and a hunt for Britain's oldest cache in 2011, along with many others. The first published for my 2015 adventure is GC3TPPN: Yet Another Meet @ The Old Forge, Inverie Knoydart on Saturday July 11th. This will be my third event at mainland Britain's most remote pub (a boat-ride from Mallaig or a long walk across the mountains away) as it's a truly spectacular location. With a pub I hope you can join me for this and/or one, some or all of my other events planned across the Islands and Highlands this summer. It'd be great to have you along! Quote Link to comment

+Simply Paul
An update on this: I've added two further events to my summer caching plans. The 9th Most Remote event, on top of the most southerly Munro - Ben More on Mull - and a few days later, a meet at the most southerly point of Scotland. Saturday 11th, http://coord.info/GC3TPPN - Yet Another Meet @ The Old Forge, Inverie Knoydart. Saturday 18th, http://coord.info/GC5T16J - 100 Not Out/Britain's 9th Most Remote Event (Mull). Tuesday 21st, http://coord.info/GC5N6R0 - Scotland's Most Southerly Event. I've a couple more ideas in mind - hope you can join me in the Highlands & Islands this July! Quote Link to comment

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you here, but the most southerly munro is Ben Lomond. I know because the first I climbed was the most Northerly (one of the Ben Hopes), and my second was the most southerly, Ben Lomond. Do you mean the most southerly on Mull? Quote Link to comment
+FinlaysDrudge
Hoping to make the most southerly event. Trying to work on the logistics for the remote event, overnight stay with dog and stuff. Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
...the most southerly munro is Ben Lomond... Do you mean the most southerly on Mull? Thanks Original A1. Yes and no. I updated the cache page a few days ago as I'd been misinformed. You're quite right about Lomond. However, there's only one Munro on Mull - or any island other than Skye in fact - and Ben More is it. Sorry for my mistake! It'd be great to have you (and your Drudge) along Finlay! Another update on my July plans: Added to the above, Monday 20th - The Castle Aaargh! Your Quest is at an End. A meet overlooking Castle Stalker, as seen at the end of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. There's an option to go inside too (tour starts at 8.30am, at a cost) if anyone wants to, but it must be prebooked via the castle's site. Also, Deeper Underground (Cumbria) on Wednesday July 22nd at Cathedral Cavern, a disused quarry near Slaters Bridge, Little Langdale. I've always wanted to host an underground event and this location offers easier access and more impressive visuals than most! Edited May 4, 2015 by Simply Paul Quote Link to comment
+koselig
How about a date on the north of the mainland. It's hard for folks there to travel to southern events all the time. Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
The Old Forge is technically on the mainland, west of Fort William, so isn't especially far down. A train goes to Mallaig, and a £20 return boat fare gets you to Knoydart - and back. My last Scottish event further north - on Applecross in 2013 - only I managed to attend but perhaps locals were busy that day! I'd like to get up beyond Ullapool or over to Inverness but will struggle to fit anything north of Portree into my travel plans this time There's always 2017, when I expect to be back. Then I hope to visit some more remote islands - the Uists, Barra, Coll & Tiree - and perhaps get further north again too. Quote Link to comment
+koselig
Thanks for your reply Simply Paul. I appreciate you can't go everywhere but even to get to Fort William from the north coast takes around 4.5-5 hours by car. The train would be 4 hrs just to Inverness. Fingers crossed you can make Caithness, Sutherland or at least Inverness next time. Thanks for all your work with these. Koselig Edited May 6, 2015 by koselig Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
A bump for these as July is surprisingly close now and I'd *really* like to beat the three cachers I had at both the 2011 and 2013 Old Forge, Inverie, Knoydart meets! I don't mind an exclusive event, but company is nice Edited May 26, 2015 by Simply Paul Quote Link to comment
+L8HNB
Its a shame the Old Forge meet is a few days too early for the T/D5 souvenir! Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
Ha! I'd not spotted that. Yes, you're right. Ah well. Lots of other chances for D and/or T of 5 caches in the Highlands. I will need to plan ahead though - thanks for the reminder Quote Link to comment

I don't mind an exclusive event, but company is nice As one of the cachers (along with Carolyn) at the first of the events on Knoydart I can highly recommend a visit to the area. Great company, good food (especially the fish) and lots of walking in the wilderness, Helen Quote Link to comment
