I always cringe when they talk about "treasure." It gives non-geocachers the impression that geocaches contain something valuable.
Yeah, I tend to use the term "scavenger hunt" for that reason. The items you search for on a scavenger hunt are generally worthless, and the experience of the hunt is the real point of it all.

I have a Google notification for news items about geocaching. They're almost universally terrible in this regard. It's no wonder land managers freak out about geocaching all the time.
