Placing cache on National Trust land

I know that the National Trust in the UK seem to be geocaching friendly, they even supply GPS units for people to cache with.

Does anyone know if they support people placing new caches on their land or is that completely out of the question?

Your thread will probably be moved to the UK forum: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=35

Where you might be directed to the Geocaching Association of Great Britain site: http://www.gagb.org.uk/

Head over to the GAGB site, they have a page GAGB Land Agreements Database (GLAD) with organizations listed, that have said "Yes" or "NO!" for caches being placed on their land.

National Trust are supportive, and have placed some of their own caches on their land, although not all of them are Groundspeak listed...

If It's National Trust, and they don't have an agreement (And haven't said "No") you can use the list to try to get permission.

Watch out that the NT ask for OS(Ordnance Survey)coordinates! Take care if converting!

And. Be aware they may have their own caches hidden, that are listed on 'other' listing sites. Although there is no 'guideline/rule' to keep a set distance, it is easier to keep caches apart, to avoid any mix-up.

Why don't you contact them? If you plan on placing a cache on their property, you will need their permission.

I was made aware of the National Trust through geocaching, just not this listing service. Several of the National Trusts have geocaching accounts on one of the other listing services.

The entry in the UK Geocaching Wiki for the National Trust gives you a link to the MAGIC map (and how to use it) that we use to check where NT land is in England. Once you've identified the land as NT you can then contact them.
