Types of Caches

Recommended Posts

Just recently we were out caching and we could not find this one cache, but in the decription someone had left a clue about a "gap cache" does anybody know what a " gap cache " is?? Thanks

I am guessing that it is a cache that meets the criteria to fill in "a gap" in the grid. For example, a Fizzy Challenge requires one to find a cache with every combination of difficulty and terrain. A cache what has a 1/3.5 Difficulty/Terrain rating might be rare, and thus finding one with that rating would fill in "a gap". Another challenge such as "find a cache on every day of the year" would have a grid of days of the year so finding one on a day on which you had not previously found would be "a gap" cache.

Repeating yourself? There are OTC medicines that will help.

Having hiked half the AT, There are a lot of thousand foot gaps through Blue Mountain. But caches along the AT are no longer permitted (despite the fact that the MPS does not own most of the land along the AT.) So. I have found some very nice gap caches, but most of them have been archived.

Don't know if this will help you, but there is a cacher in an area about an hour away who has a Gap series. She looks for areas where there is room for another one between existing one. She feels like she's filling in the gaps on the map.

That's what I was thinking, but that wouldn't be much help in finding the cache...would it?
