+CumbrianDan
Hi all, I have recently got a geocache (Garmin etrex). I have downloaded the Garmin Communicator plugin, all gone successful. And then I tried to download the co-ords for a Cache I am attempting (tomorrow). It is not working, coming up with the message 'No devices found', whilst the GPS is plugged in via GPS... Any suggestions welcome! CumbrianDan Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
You need a Premium Membership to download all the hints and description. I'm assuming you need to be a PM to download the co-ords as well?? Or if not When you select download to gps you get prompted to choose Magellan Garmin Lowrance brands. Make sure the correct brand-in this case Garmin. Quote Link to comment

Any suggestions welcome! CumbrianDan You don't need to be a Premium Member to get the coordinates into your gps. As a Basic Member, you will only be able to download the loc files for each cache. Here's what I do to download the coordinates to my computer, then to the gps: 1.) Download GPSBabel http://www.gpsbabel.org/ 2.) Create a folder on the computer called "gpx files" 3.) Go to the cache page of a cache I want to hunt. 4.) Click on "LOC waypoint file" and save it to the folder on the computer. 5.) Connect the gps to the computer via its cable. 6.) Open GPSBabel and transfer the coordinates to the gps. LOC waypoint files contain only the most basic information about a cache: Help Center → Geocaching → Finding Geocaches 2.5. Download Cache Information http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=236 B. Quote Link to comment

Any suggestions welcome! CumbrianDan This is probably an issue with the 'garmin communicator app/plug-in'. Try deleting it and then re-installing it. I'm guessing your GPS was plugged-in via USB? +Heli Leo
With my Garmin Nuvii and Rino I have to make sure they are turned on and done down loading the maps after connecting to the CPU via the USB cable and then the Garmin program will recognize them. Quote Link to comment
+Yorkshire Yellow
CumbrianDan, I have (the old yellow) Etrex and can download cache co-ords okay. I had to get a serial to USB connector off Amazon to get my PC to recognised it though. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
@ CumbrianDan: You didn't specify -- PC or Mac. Mac has issues (correctable). Dunno if you can update the yellow eTrex with latest firmware, but that just may be the issue regarding PC or Mac. As you say the unit is plugged into the computer, I am guessing that you have the proper cable(s). Be sure that the connections are secure and there is no continuity fault within the wire itself -- especially at/near the brace areas. Quote Link to comment
+Sol seaker
Some GPS's need to be turned on to receive the Coords,.and some need to be turned off. My yellow etrex needs to be on, while my other Garmin needs to be off. Also.check the batteries. Some won't load with low batteries. You can call Garmin too. They have excellent customer service that is worth getting a Garmin for in of itself. Quote Link to comment
