Revisiting a Cache

Ok, I know this topic has been discussed before and I have tried looking through the forums to find the correct answer and have failed! In multiple forums I have noticed people commenting on revisting a cache. What is the purpose of revisiting the cache after you have already found it the first time? Unless you are the CO, I am confused!

One of the most basic possibilities is that you enjoyed the spot and wanted to go back.

There's also moving trackables along.

That is the main reason I go back to a cache is the place it takes me to. I usually will write a note in the log when I do. I check on the cache to make sure all is well too.

I've returned to previously found caches for various reasons, including:

  • to move trackables
  • to trade for signature items required for a meta-game
  • to show others a cache/location that I particularly enjoyed
  • to take new geocachers to a good beginners' cache
  • to let others in the group find a cache that I had previously found, but they had not yet found
