+Blackavalanche
Geocaches are required to be .1 miles apart so I was wondering if there is anyway to make sure you are .1 miles away from another cache. I have a spot for a cache that I want to hide but I just realized that it may be too close to a previously listed cache. Quote Link to comment

+palmetto
Here's a link to a Knowledge Book Article on using the available tools on Geocaching.com to avoid being too near an existing cache. http://support.Groundspeak.com//index.php?pg=kb.page&id=199 Quote Link to comment

Load the nearby cache into your GPS and visit you proposed site to see if there really are good places to hide a cache. When you find a good spot use your GPS to tell you how far you are from the cache that concerns you. If, for some reason, you need to do the calculation from your desk, use the coordinate distance calculator mentioned in the above post. Or you can plot the coordinates of the existing cache in Google maps and use the measuring tool in Google maps. Quote Link to comment
+ZombieDad
I wouldn't say it's required... Caches galore! Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Just be aware of any Unknown/Puzzle caches that may be in the area, but not shown exactly where, and Multicaches that may have hidden waypoints for physical stages. Both will stop your cache from being published. Quote Link to comment

jholly
I wouldn't say it's required... Caches galore! I checked GC308ZT and GC308YT and found them to be 644 feet apart. Seems like the 528 foot rule is being observed. Did you find some that were closer than 528 feet? Quote Link to comment
+chaoticspots
Definitively keep an eye out for premium caches. I know if your zoomed in to far it does not show them on the website, and they do not show up on the Groundspeak app.. So when I placed one of mine a few weeks back I was told it was to close to a premium. So I moved it. I get another message, it was still to close,...by 4 FEET haha. It wasnt even one of those caches that can be picked up and thrown somewhere else. It took me a good 20 minutes to relocate it each time, plus the 15 walk to get there. So I guess it was a good learning experience for me to always double check the distance between caches. hope my blunders can help others out. Quote Link to comment
+GrateBear
I use the Hide & Seek A Cache link. Just enter the N and W coords of my proposed cache site, put in the radius I want to search, then hit "search". Shows the closest caches. The only thing it doesn't show is unknown/multi caches that aren't the final. Quote Link to comment
+chingola
I have Garmin etrex vista Hcx, And if I want to know if I am too colose to another cache I load the cache onto my GPS and then go to where I want to place the new one then see how far it is to the existing one, Hope this helps. +Markwell
chingola: that only helps if you KNOW about the caches. As palmetto pointed out, there's other considerations and Groundspeak posted an article about the cache saturation issue here. Quote Link to comment
