Moun10Bike Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 My primary hobby/interest (before geocaching) was mountain biking, but back then usernames on the online service I used were limited to 10 characters. I didn't want "Biker" since that made people think of motorcycles or (gasp!) road bikes, so I shortened things to "Moun10Bike". I've used it as my username for most things ever since. Quote
+Michaelcycle Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Seems like the perfect time to post just after Moun10Bike: If it's got two wheels and I'm the motor I'm on it. I think the largest number of bicycles we owned was 10, we're down to 8 now. Frankly, geocaching is simply an excuse to ride a bike (or paddle a kayak, now, too) someplace new! Been using the Michaelcycle handle for lots of things for years before geocaching so I just continued when I joined 5 years ago. Quote
+the*B*team Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Like Dgwphotos, my original caching name was just my first initial and last name, and not very creative. Years ago, in a workplace hockey pool, I named my team "The A-Team", because my first name starts with 'A'. When I decided I wanted to change my caching name, I was lucky enough to find that "The A-Team" was in use by an "unvalidated" account, so GS allowed me to take the name. It opens up many additional benefits, such as having Mr. T as my avatar with the caption "I pity the fool that doesn't cache!". I've also started using the phrase "I love it when a plan comes together!" in my FTF logs, and I've considered using some kind of A-Team theme for some cache placements. A mohawk would help with the theme too. omg - how funny,I did the same thing! I picked "the*B*team" because its the first initial of our last name, and because we aren't as good as the A team! 'the B team - let us lead you on your next mis-adventure!' and I've had plenty of 'mis-adventures'! Quote
+yoyoteacher Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I'm often asked if I teach others how to yo-yo. It's usually the first thing asked at a registration table for an event. To which I go 'hahaha, noooo.' I've been a Girl Scout camp counselor for 4 years, a Girl Scout for 20 years. At my home camp, it's tradition to have a camp nickname and once you become staff, you are known by your nickname. Mine is Yo-Yo, because of my very active nature at a young age and my brother called me Yorya when we were little. I am no longer a hyper ball of energy, though I try to put that front on while working at camp. As for the teacher part, I'm a recent college grad who studied elementary education. So, two parts of my life coming together...yoyoteacher. Now to work on some good geo-swag that focuses on that! Quote
WashoeZephyr Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I was a big fan of the show LOST when I started using other forums. I just decided to keep using it. Now it just implies I'm just "Lost" which is also pretty accurate!...After Googling "LostinReno" I've considered changing my name, it seems some creepy 50 something guy also uses it for dating sites and porn ...we aren't the same person. LOL. Quote

+New Market Mallers Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 One of my favorite shows of all time is Married With Children. The "New Market Mallers" was the name of the softball team that the Bundy's played on. Whoa Bundy!!! Quote

+Kenkeknem Sleuth Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) Kenkeknem is a First Nations Shuswap word for "black bear" My first name is Barry that gets shortened to bear. I wanted a name that related to bear with out adding numbers or special characters to the umpteen other bear handles out there. Kenkeknem is unique and I use it on many forums or any place I need to log in with a user name. I Geocache with my wife and 8 year old daughter so we are a group. A group of bears is a sloth or sleuth. Sleuth is fitting as it is also a word for detective or solver of mystery, hence Kenkeknem Sleuth. Edited January 11, 2012 by Kenkeknem Sleuths Quote
