+donbadabon
Is the site really busy or something? 96 hours have come and gone, and still have no response to a request to disable one of my caches so I can make an update. Requests have been sent to both the area approver, and the contact@ e-mails, and nothing. Link to comment
Keystone
Could you spell out what you're asking for? "Disable a cache" to me means making it temporarily unavailable. That's a single mouse click for you, the cache owner. The link is found just below the cache title. Are you asking for something different? Don't make me stop this car! Link to comment

+donbadabon
quote:Originally posted by Keystone Approver:Could you spell out what you're asking for? Yeah, I made my first offset cache, and like a goob, didn't think about the offset coords until after it was approved, and then realized that no one in the area around the cache would ever see it, since the coords are so far off. But since I put them so far off, I cannot update them on an approved cache. Which of course makes sense. So, I requested, as listed in the FAQ, that they 'unapprove' and 'disable' the cache, so I can update the listed coords to more appropriate ones, and then I can resubmit for approval. Link to comment
Moun10Bike
I'm not sure who you contacted for help, but keep in mind that a huge volume of mail goes to contact at geocaching dot com each week. Your best bet for a quick response is to email the admin that initially approved your cache. You can see who that was by looking at the bottom of your cache page. You will see the approver's name there and it will be a link to that approver's profile. From the profile, you can email them directly for help. Link to comment

Tried that first, got no response at all, so I followed the FAQ which stated that if I don't hear back within 48 hours, to use the contact e-mail. I can understand if things are busy, just like to know I am in the queue. As a side-note, the offset I put in was 3 hours from the actual location of the cache, and a cacher who saw it pop up on their list as 'new' decoded the coords and made the 3 hour drive to find it, and became the FTF. +Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
You are lucky donadabon, I've been waiting 4 weeks now and have sent at least a couple of reminders. +ClayJar
Wow... I guess I went about it the quick way. We had to move our Louisiana campout (hunting season and all), so I just asked one of the admins in the Weekly Official Geocaching Chat, and they gave me a hand right then. (Hmmm... does this count as a shameless plug? See you next Monday. ) [[[ ClayJar Networks ]]] Home of Watcher downloads, Official Geocaching Chat, and the Geocache Rating System Link to comment
