+weston wanderer
Norfolk Dumpling and I are going for a week's caching and walking near Holyhead in Anglesey. Can anyone recommend any must-do caches in the area or en route? We are planning on travelling from East Anglia via the M6, M54 and A5. We will need to make a few stops on the way so it would be nice to have a driveby cache or two! Thanks Quote Link to comment

This one was Good http://coord.info/GCGPX3 and was probably the only one I've done near the A5. A bit further north ZC caches are good but may take you some time if you do some of the series ones. Team Marzipan caches are good too. Quote Link to comment
+CnJnA
Try GC20BDQ Bridging the gap, on the Menai bridge. Took us a couple of tries before we got it, and theres a pub very close by if you get too frustrated! Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
Not exactly on Anglesey, but rather cool: Lion in wait GCRDXM and I liked South Stack GC1FMWM too. Have a good trip. Quote Link to comment
+weston wanderer
Thanks all! We will be staying near South Stack so that will be a must. We will also go and have an adventure at Moe's Tavern. Can't wait to go now i know there are some decent caches! Quote Link to comment
+milvus-milvus
Church in the Sea (GC15EZJ) is a must... Quote Link to comment
+Jonovich
Something I put together in response to an Anglesey caching question from another cacher... A list of caches that are worthy of a visit on Anglesey: - 1. GC12QCH Moe's Tavern 4/4.5 In my opinion, the very best cache on the Island! Check the tides & time your visit to coincide with a falling tide! If you need to kill some time waiting on the tide, or as a reward for finding this one, get over to Cameas and grab an Oggie from the Williams Bakery! Hot or cold, they are delicious! 2. GC1FXNQ Parys Mountain (1/2.5) Second best, and make sure you bring your camera! The scenary, although quite brutal nd basically an industrial wasteland, is absolutely stunning! 3. GC1DEA Anglesey, Holyhead Mountain (3/3.5) I notice there are now several more caches up on Holyhead Mountain now, but I've not been back up to do them yet... Maybe you can do 'em and tell me? But for just the views and a lovely walk, this is hard to beat. Try and visit south stack as well if you haven't already - very cool place to explore. 4. GC15EZJ Church in the Sea (1.5/2) A very quiet and forgotten cove on the southern shoreline. As with No.1, you would be wise to check the tides and aim to visit on or around low tide if you want to visit the Church Island! (Unless you have Kayak!) 5. GCY69V Janpe's Inspiration (5/2) A puzzle that results in a trip to a stunning landmark! I'll say no more so as to not spoil the fun. This is our very favourite place on the whole island and we go here as often as possible when holidaying there! 6. GC2A8PB curse of the FTF Anglesey #6 Llynnon Mill (1.5/1.5) For once a curse of the FTF in a lovely location! Can recommend a trip inside, rspecially if there is enough wind for them to be milling! Their flour makes lovely loaves! In fact - back on the Northern side of the Island you'll find Derimon smokery - they do fantastic bacon and smoked chicken! But they also smoke the flour that is milled here - if you make your own bread, try some made with a few spoons of this smoked flour! In fact.... We're about out, grab us a big bag and a tenners worth of Bacon would you ;-) 7. GC1ZTBW Llanddona Witches (1.5/2.5/TB) A very much undiscovered part of Anglesey - Plenty of wildlife and a great place to go that is away from it all! Wellies a must if you walk the salt marsh, but it's equally as easy to do the beach wall walk - just not as much fun! 8. GC1XQQ0 Penmon - faults, folds and a layer cake (2/2.5) An Earthcache (they like 'em here) and an awesome place to simply explore. There are a couple of other caches on this tip of the island that are worth a look, but I think this one is the un-missable one of the ones here. 9. GC13RVA Puffin Island (1/1) As above, another Earthcache that I think is within a few hundred yards of above, café isn't cheap, but if it's bracing, they do lovely hot snacks! 10. GC20BDQ Bridging the gap (2.5/1) Don't do this if you hate heights, but otherwise, I'd recommend it for the unique views of the Menai staits that it offers! 11. GC104FR Newborough Forest (2/2/TB) A beautiful beach (there is a nearby cache called stepping stones that is on my must do list for next year too). Lovely woodlands and a great walk out onto Llanddwyn Island if the tides out will offer some brillant views over the straits to Snowdon! 12. GCWFB5 Sanddune Secrets (1.5/1.5) If you like being nosy at RAF bases, this'll definitely be up your street! You may even see our future king who's based at RAF valley practising his flying! Lots of sandunes to explore too! 13. GC1G45H Din Llligwy Burial Chamber (2/2) Earth cache - a very interesting bit of ancient history! Takes no more than ten minutes - almost a drive-by earthcache! 14. GC1G4KQ Din Lligwy Village (2/3) Near to the above is this other Earth cache - bit more of a walk, but a lovely location and lots of ruins to explore! 15. GCRDXM Lion in wait (2/2.5) Not technically on Anglesey, but these un-loved and often overlooked Lions are a real treat. Location isn't great, but the lions make up for it. Cheers, Jon Quote Link to comment
