A trackable concludes its mission. What does the owner do with it next? Send it on another mission? Retire it and try and get it back for their collection?

You can re-write it's mission, just let it wander, or "try" to have it return to a specific cache near you.

It's totally up to the owner.

I usually change the mission.

Many travel bugs have NO mission. They just wander around.

I don't know of any owners that have grabbed their travelbug and retired it.

I guess if you want to make a plaque and hang it on the wall with a map of its travels...that would be interesting.

You can send it on a new mission, edit the page to reflect this, but don't delete any of the old logs, or everyone who helped it along will lose the credit for doing so, and the TB loses all of its history.

... and if your TB is not in your hands at the end of its mission then you can sometimes ask a friendly cacher who has it "in their hands" if they would kindly remove any old mission details attached to your TB and add a new one for you - I've done that a couple of times for other trackables.

What I might do is when mine finishs there journey, see if I can get them as close to home as possible, and then if possible retrieve it, change the picture, goal, name ect, then send it on a new mision, then, do the same again, try and get it home, and send it on a new mission.

I had a TB in the Great TB Race of 2009 that came in 4th but was stuck in Ireland, then a cacher from Canada had picked him up so I ask him to bring him back to No. America, I now have the TB (KIMO) in my hands and marked collectible, I have it with me all the time when caching..

I have changed the missions on TB's for their owners before also.. The last one I changed the owner wanted it to come home..
