+Family O Foxes
There have been several geocookies placed in caches around our area (Oregon). They have numbers attached with them but they don't tell the finder how to log them. Does anyone know what the geocookies are? ~Amy of familyO'foxes Quote Link to comment

Major Catastrophe
OK, I'll try to rejuvenate this thread because I found a geocookie today. Like the others, it has a number and I'm curious if there's a way to log the find. The size of the geocookie is about 3½ in. / 9 cm. diameter. So.... has anyone learned if there's a place to log these guys? Inquiring minds want to know! Quote Link to comment
+Eric K
Try scrolling back through the logs of the cache you found it in and see who left it. Maybe that person is the originator of the cookie. Edited June 27, 2004 by Eric K Quote Link to comment
dampeoples
Cool, and I thought this thread was about food in caches Quote Link to comment

Maybe that person is the originator of the cookie. Done that. No mention of any kind of cookie in the logs all the way back to the origin of the cache... Quote Link to comment
+norbu
do they say geocookie on them, or you are giving them that name? and the pic above, is this one of them? perhaps it is just a sig item?? Quote Link to comment
Major Catastrophe
do they say geocookie on them Yes. or you are giving them that name? Why would I do that?and the pic above, is this one of them? I think it's the one I found. perhaps it is just a sig item?? Possibly. I dunno, that's why the first post. These things are true: It says "Geocookie" on the back. It has a number on the back. I found it in a cache. There is no reference to it in any of the logs for that cache. The picture I posted is the item I found in a cache, which has "Geocookie" and a number on its back and which is not referenced in the cache logs. Quote Link to comment

+forest_nymph
OK... Here's my theory to the mysterious geocookie: As an artist, craftsperson etc., I've noticed several designer items used by geocachers for trading into caches. I, included, use a "signature" item that I will sometimes trade in a cache. I refer to it as a "geonut", or "my signature item" etc. in the log in books. I usually sign it and sometimes date it and even name it to a cache. The purpose of this, (perhaps) is to create something unique enough for cachers to collect. The numbers may refer to the artists own file of record. It having absolutely nothing to do with the normal TB logging scenerio. Consider this item as a precious collectable. To trade or not to trade... Your choice. I like to hunt and find specific items in caches. (Not just TB's) I'm in hopes of actually setting up a curio cupboard for all these signature items that various cachers leave behind. Each item reflects a persons unique character sometimes, and its interesting to meet cachers through their exchanged items. Some day I will find my own geocookie! Quote Link to comment
