+The QCs
Has anyone been caching recently in the New Forest? We are heading there shortly and would quite like to take in a few caches. Are there any series that we can do? We are limited in how far we can walk (up to about 5 miles) as we have a 5 year old with us...she could ride her bike though, plus we have the boy in the buggy so stiles and gates are not overly favourable, but do-able. The 5 year old does enjoy finding a lot of caches, she's not the 'walk miles and find one cache' type! So, can you recommend something that is buggy friendly, has a lot of caches for the 5 year old and will give us parents a nice walk? Many thanks Mummy Diplodocus. Quote Link to comment
+Mad H@ter
The Halloween Ring to the south of the NF at Milford on Sea with its rather unusual themed containers always goes down well with families. It is on well walked footpaths and tracks so shouldn't be too much of a problem for a large wheeled all terrain buggy although it can get muddy after a lot of rain. There are 10 caches on a 3 to 4 mile circular walk. Quote Link to comment
+reddeeps
We went in June and found 5 around here, which was great for the kids, had toilets and ice cream van, nice walk, maybe 2 or 3 miles, and ponies to see as well in the car park. Heres one of the caches which my kids loved. http://coord.info/GC2510M Quote Link to comment
+SXParx
Try this one.... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCNBTA a multi along a disused railway so good for cycling kids and better still the best Tea House selling out of this world cream teas at the start or finish or both depending on how rich you are feeling Quote Link to comment
+Cornell Finch
Whilst it's not really a series, AllyD created this route of around 8 miles for 7 caches. I am sure that you could modify it a little to make the route shorter: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...54-b9e4a4515a16 Quote Link to comment

+t.a.folk
The multi "Guess who " 1YF4C starts near Bolderwood Deer sanctuary ,across the road from the car park . At 2.00pm ( Web site info) a keeper feeds deer in a meadow .There is a viewing platform with info . Be warned ,there is usually an ice-cream van in Boulderwood car park and it gets crowded on a nice day . Near to Bolderwood is at Mogshade memorial and cache "Little Canada " GEPD.(very short walk ) Further along the road ,a car ride away ,is cache "SSSS" GC1G82Z . A scream at the first stage could be expected . The final leads to near the Reptile Centre where if you are lucky you can view Adders and other reptile ( safely out of reach in their concrete pits ,they are sometimes hard to spot )) In Wilverly Inclosure are several caches along easy tracks including "Ellies Wellies " RFM9 and "Bouncy Tree -A Treat for Mum's and Kids" GC2510M. A map of cycle routes available to help anyone plan their longer cycle routes . http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/new-forest-...-cycle-code.pdf Quote Link to comment
GerritS
Can also recommend my own "Why Here" might be bit to much of a walk but cycleble and buggie friendly.. Willows Woodside Wonder is in Lymington, is in a great park for all ages... there are a few caches round the town here to... If you visit on a Saturday there is a a Saturday market. Series are not that common in the forest.. Pick a car park in a high density area... Certainly as mentioned above park at Wilversly Plain and they are buggy friendly... If you feel brave a ferry or puffin cruise to the IOW on foot can pick you up some and if its a bit damp could be nice day out on foot/ buggy (expensive? by car). +burtsbodgers
I was going to recommend what we called "the welly boot stream", but i have just looked and most of the nearby caches have been archived it seems. This is the nearest cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...48-1b17a1cc0752 I my opinion the stream is still worth a visit, we have been taking our kids there for years, right from when they were small. The walk around great pines and the arboretum are very nice just not so many caches now. Have a good holiday the forest is great. Quote Link to comment
+t.a.folk
From the above cache you could seek GC267KA and nearby GC1FDW2 . Easiest route being to relocate to Ober Corner car park, near the entrance to the camp site , and then walk/cycle along the gravel track to the Bridge .Also a great place to paddle .
