+dino_hunters
Check out this benchmark I found!!! It is monumented in 1877, with a large stone block. It is in an old ghost town, along the old transcontinental railroad line. Its about 40 miles or so from the Gold Spike Monument in Northern Utah. Check out the pictures, and read the signs for more info. http://www.geocaching.com/mark/details.asp?PID=MS0615 Quote Link to comment
+Kewaneh & Shark
Very cool benchmark find! One definately worth getting excited about. The pics of the site are great. Keep on Caching! - Kewaneh Quote Link to comment
Shark River Pirates
I'm jealous - that's really cool. ----------------------------------------- If you go into the huckleberry region back of Shark River you had better not scorn the story of the great pirate ship that sails without trouble in twelve inches of water, and has skeletons dangling at the mastheads. - Stephen Crane 1894 Quote Link to comment

Cracker.
Looks like NGS is actually keeping track of this one....I would still log a report with them, though...Its been 10 years since the last recovery report. Art www.yankeetoys.org www.BudBuilt.com www.pirate4x4.com Quote Link to comment
MOCKBA
quite a few people found it before, e.g. Cach-U-Nuts did, but they all logged it under the PID of a co-localized benchmark disk from the more recent era (it's embedded in Wheeler's monument). There is also a *HUGE* BLM sign describing the stone and its history. So it is a very interesting site but there ain't anything specialabout finding it. Quote Link to comment
+geo_eclectic
I applaud the fact that you have set the record straight. While the previous "finds" were undoubtedly exciting for the participants there is also a certain satisfaction in getting things recorded correctly. Something tells me it was hot that day!!! ----- Fighting entropy one benchmark at a time. ----- Quote Link to comment
+happycycler
Good job! and nice photos! Quote Link to comment
2oldfarts (the rockhounders)
Great find! Question - did you log all three benchmarks? There's the Wheeler monument, the disk on the top of the monument, and the rod in the side of the monument. Well done. Smile, make others wonder what you're up to!!! Quote Link to comment
