+Beagle4Fun
Hi. Just wanted to know if there's a travel bug hotel near London Heathrow Airport? Seems I can't find one on the map. Thx for your help. Beagle4Fun Quote Link to comment

The Hearse
Be warned that the police take a dim view of cachers around Heathrow particulalry during heightened security beacuse of the false alarms they generate from the public. Don't expect a pleasant "Hello, Hello, Hello" if your collar gets felt! Quote Link to comment

+Von-Horst
Be warned that the police take a dim view of cachers around Heathrow... ...which is why the cache is outside the boundary of the airport. Quote Link to comment

Beagle4Fun There is also "Turpins Rest TB Hotel" (GC1T5DG) located on Hounslow Heath.. Not a million miles from Heathrow.. Quote Link to comment
+Team Sieni
Just as an aside ... is having a TB hotel near an airport really all that likely to increase the chances of a particular TB being taken abroad? THis thought ocurred to me while dropping a bug off at a hotel near Gatwick. After all most people will proceed directly to the airport to get their flight, having previously picked up any TBs they plan to take with them in their regular caching grounds. The hotel was quite near the airport, but few people are likely to take time out from waiting for a plane to leave the airport (and their luggage) to go for a walk, and if driving to the airport are probably worried about departure times, so won't divert much to go caching. (Well ... I wouldn't anyway) Just a thought. Quote Link to comment

+stanolli
Shame the T5 hitchhikers hotel is gone, I have also used Harmondsworth Moor - Japanese Bridge. I often look for a cache before flying if the traffic getting there has been good and I have spare time. Quote Link to comment

Although to be fair to the plod they were reasonably pleasant about it. Don't think the "hello hello hello" bit featured though. Quote Link to comment
