hide redundant image links in cache description

When including images in cache descriptions via <img src="..."> in HTML code, I would like these images not show up with extra links at the end of the cache description as well. Obviously this is possible, as I have seen that on other cache descriptions (e.g. GC12YZ6, to see what I mean).

When using a lot of images in the cache description (especially images which are not photos, like stars, bars, etc.) it's ugly to get all those listed down there between "For online maps" and "Logged Visits", too.

Can anybody tell me how this is done? I have found no general image upload method yet, only connected to a cache description, a log or a trackable item. And I don't want random images to show up in a foreign gallery.

Some host the images on other sites (especially if the images are more appropriate as GIF or PNG, since Geocaching.com converts them all to JPEG). Some post the images to old archived caches. Some keep an unpublished cache around and post the images to it.

I see, thanks for the pointers.

None makes me really happy, though, so I guess this turns into a feature request: There should be either a checkbox to allow the owner of a cache to decide whether an uploaded image is listed below the cache description or not, or there should be a general image upload option somewhere, for images which are not directly associated with either a cache or a TB.

Oh boys (and maybe girls as well?), there is simply way. Just download your image to your cache listing, use URL for displaying your picture in description and then use "delete" in "edit" options. Picture will be deleted from list, but is still there and you can use URL link  Did you really believe your pictures are deleted for good? I'm using this for my descriptions and it works perfect.

The kind folks up at HQ have long warned that using that little trick may not always be supported in quite the way you expect.

You mean like UPLOADING THEM TO YOUR PROFILE, like I already suggested? Spend less time complaining, and more time reading the solutions being offered.

@toczygroszek: Actually I thought about that, too. But I wouldn't trust that the images won't be deleted at some point in the future, and then you cache descriptions will be severely broken.

@Prime Suspect: Sorry for ignoring the advice you gave in the first reply. It's just that posting the image to my personal profile seems just as awkward as posting it to a TB gallery. But you're right; as it is, this seems to be the preferred solution for my problem as long as I want to have the images on the GC platform.

Thanks!

Another place to put images is on an old log entry. In fact, you can include them on a Reviewer Note, which will disappear when the cache is published. The images are still there and the links still work.

Or after publication, just log a note with an old date. (I think you can even delete the log after getting the image addresses, but I don't like to count on it.)

Posting the images to other web sites has the problem of being dependent on that site. I know of a puzzle cache which got archived because the owner was inactive and the link to the puzzle didn't work. The cache is probably still out there. And it's probably far from the only one in this condition.
