+Team Bashspa
After reading so many topics about no more support for the Garmin Colorado That I had just purchased I became concerned that it might be true so I sent a Email to garmin below is the response I got back. My email Subject: Firmware update discontinued I have recently purchased a Colorado 300 from Costco and upgraded to 2.90 firmware. So far I have really enjoyed it. My concern after reading some forums is that this model will not be geting any more support or discontinued. If this is the case I should return it and get my money back and by something else. There response Thank you for contacting Garmin International. There is no truth that the Colorado 300 will be discontinued or will no longer receive support. If you should have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. With Best Regards, Shawn V Product Support Specialist www.garmin.com Quote Link to comment
+splashy
wrong answer. When was the last update again? Are all issues resolved? Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Just because it isn't getting updates on your schedule doesn't mean its been abondoned. Look at the topsy turvey nature of all the recent Oregon betas - glad that my Colorado has not been put through that. - Oh and BTW - when was the last non-beta update for the Oregon?? I am assured that an update for the Colorado is coming soon after the final for the Oregon. Quote Link to comment
+Scoff Cruddle
"With regards to the software updates that have been released for the Oregon these are beta software updates so are only in a test format. If these are successfully with the Oregon then they will also be released for the Colorado. I hope this helps." This was the reply I had a similar query on March 26th. Supports StarBrand's statement. +Tequila
I think their choice of words is interesting. They say the CO 300 is not discontinued. What about the CO line? I haven't seen any follow on products like the OR 550. And are they continuing to manufacture new units for the CO 300? They say the CO 300 will continue to receive support. By law they are obligated to support a product for a certain time period. But what do they mean by "support"? The recent OR updates not only included support for bugs but significant product enhancements such as Waypoint Averaging. The proof will be in the pudding. And the topsy turvey nature as you call it is very minor and basically no problems at all. Quote Link to comment

Then you would not mind caching daily with the version that refused to lock onto more than 4 or 5 sats at max and gave EPE readings over 100 feet?? (wasn't that just 1 version ago??) That was fixed in a very short time. A much shorter time than it took them to fix the 250 meter position errors in the CO. Today, the OR 2.98Beta is a very stable release and it has MANY MANY MORE capabilities than the CO. Tried coloring your tracks on the CO lately???? Quote Link to comment

I had read so many statements about the Colorado support not getting any more udates it had me wondering if I purchased the right unit. I like your Idea that they are using the Oregon platform to make all of the needed changes and then later release them for the Colorado. Quote Link to comment
+Timpat
I also have corresponded with Garmin tech support regarding my CO 300. Mine had been performing flawlessly for me but I hope to see added functionality that the OR already has. "Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I would be happy to assist. We are still making all the Colorado devices and supporting them. Colorado units are still selling quite well and have not forgotten those like yourself who have purchased these. Currently, no future firmware updates are scheduled to include a track manager feature like the Oregon has. We do understand how beneficial this may be for the Colorado. I know this has been suggested to our engineers for future firmware updates, but do not know at this time when or if this will be released for the Colorado." With Best Regards, Dwight O Product Support Specialist Outdoor/Fitness Team Garmin International I also got a letter stating similar to what Scoff Cruddle posted regarding the Oregon bein gthe test bed and our CO ultimately getting the updated firmware but I can't find my email to quote. I certainly hold onto hope Quote Link to comment

+Tequila
Tried coloring your tracks on the CO lately???? Why would I want to? Makes it a lot easier to identify saved tracks from your current track. I have all the local trails loaded in as light blue. My current track is black. Improves navigating greatly. Quote Link to comment
