Best Place to Buy ammo cans?

I would like to purchase some ammo cans for my future and also current caches.

 

I can buy 20-30mm sizes from the local army surplus store for $20 each in fair to good condition.

 

I have seen some selling online for as little as 7-12 dollars plus shipping.

 

I want to purchase the smallest or next to smallest size unless there is something better or more

cost effective.

 

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I buy mine at gun shows. Usually about $5 to get in and held at a local fairground or convention center. I pay $4 for a .30 cal and $5 for a .50 cal. This is so much less than i have seen at a surplus store. (I dont think the military has much surplus anymore. I think it is cheaper for them to leave it wherever they are at.)

 

I have heard of cachers buying a palet on eBay and splitting it.

We recently picked up a couple ammo cans at our local surplus store for $15 each.

 

Never bought any online as the shipping costs make the total sky high.

The gun show recommendation is good. I got two mid-sized cans at a surplus store, so it might pay to shop around a bit.

I can get 50 Cal for $6.99 and 30 Cal for $4.99 at a local hardware and tool surplus store.

Shipping is flat rate - no matter how many you buy. So getting 1 or 2 or 3 is expensive - I usually order 12 to 20 or so at a time.
