Overpriced. For $20 more, you can get a Venture HC, which is a lot better. This is Garmin's big problem. Too many model all priced too close to each other. I really don't know why they just did not kill the greyscale models.

I have the HC and the extra $ is well worth the color screen. Sell something on Craigslist or give up coffee for two weeks and go for it. ;-)

 

I bought mine from thenerds.net currently $124 for HC (reman version for $108!!!)

Also consider the Legend HCx which is another step up from the Venture HC adding a MicroSD slot so that you are not limited to 24Mb for maps and POIs.

Or why they don't keep one basic cheap grayscale with a USB cable and not that serial nonsense. You're right, it seems that they could cut the number of eTrex models in half and then with more production of fewer different model types they could be more efficient and maybe cut some of those prices so that people are not debating over the next price point up. I am no business man, though, so I could be way off.
