Unfortunately, WAAS accuracy depends, depends, depends...

Legend Accuracy Depends on Surface Under Antenna

Cheers,

Jim

That applies to GPS accuracy in general, no matter if you use WAAS or not.

Or did I miss something?

Hi i am new here, so please be gentle with me.

WAAS accuracy also requires clear view of horizon,

all 360 deg helps.

the only time i noticed ( WAAS ON ) made any improvement in accuracy

was when on holiday in the maldives, and when on the top of a big lump of

rock in the lake district at 2500ft plus.

WAAS / EGNOS has the same requirements as GPS itself, because it uses the same frequencies and modulations. Ok... there are less satellites sending WAAS/EGNOS data than GPS satellites but that's the only difference (AFAIK).

All you need to know about WAAS here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wide_Area_Augmentation_System.

not a waas signal i picked up in the maldives then.

just super accurate from maximum sats.

no waas coverage in the indian ocean.

and northern latitudes it does help to have a clear view

of the horizon .

i suspect if you were in a valley in the rockies, you aint going

to get a waas signal.

or valley anywhere for that matter.

who knows anyway, its all way above my head.
