+Phelpsy
I was trying to delete some files from my Colorado 400t, when I accidentally deleted my topographic map software and possibly my basemap software from the device. After realizing what I had done it wass too late! There is no record of the files anywhere! I tried to use some un-delete software with negative results. Has anyone made or heard of anyone who made this BONEHEAD mistake like I did? I have to wait until Tuesday to contact Garmin to see what they can do for me. Hindsight is always...... 20/20. I did not backup my GPS before messing with the files.... I messed with something I had no business messing with. I'm really mad that I was able to delete this file in the first place! It should not even be allowed to be accessed Quote Link to comment

+mty55
What really stinks, and I don't know if its Windows or Garmin. When you want to delete a file it gives no option to place the deleted files in the recycle bin. I know its not a failsafe but atleast it gives you some what of an option to look at the files and restore if necessary before you blast them away for good. As far as backing up the files. I will back up my Oregon 300 before the end of the day. Thanks for the tip. Quote Link to comment

+JetSkier
When you delete from a removeable drive, Windows doesn't give you the option to go to the recycle bin. JetSkier Quote Link to comment

+Phelpsy
I have a couple more days to wait to contact Garmin. So far I have found no help on the interent other than requesting a copy of the topographic maps software that was preloaded on the device. I owned that software which I deleted and should be given access to a hard copy. If I am granted a copy of the software Ill keep you all posted so you can request a hard copy as well. Don't worry about it! I did the exact same thing on my Colorado and called them. They ended up remoteing into my colorado through my computer to check it out then they copied the file over. Hope you have broadband connection cause if I recall correctly, it's a good size file and takes a while even with broadband. Best of luck but Garmin will fix you up for sure. Quote Link to comment
