Coyote's Girl Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I'll admit I've not been at this very long, but I've noticed something: Slightly damp caches tend to have a smell about them. It's almost like bug spray. Do people bug-spray their caches? Quote
ZSandmann Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think it is more likely to be the beginning of mildew. Quote
WatchDog2020 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I'll second the mildew but some Micros just naturally stink (sorry I couldn't resist) Quote
Kohavis Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I'll second the mildew but some Micros just naturally stink (sorry I couldn't resist) SO true! It isn't a problem with our dry climate, but there have been one or two soggy ones that remind me of opening a gym locker Quote
StarBrand Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 ahhhh - the naturally repulsive odor of small micro-organismis slowly helping to decay the former fibrous plant materials left out in a container that wasn't quite up to the task of sealing out mother nature. or maybe it is just the odor of the trash-can sitting on the other side of the guardrail from the cache. or simply the thought of getting out of the car to go to the guardrail behind the greasy garbage can behind the restaurant to find a leaky 35mm can. Hard to tell. Quote
Wild Thing 73 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think it is more likely to be the beginning of mildew. Not as much as those regular and small containers when they fill with water and are not maintained....When wet and molded they all smell, except for my cache placements...Happy caching and good humor....
