  1. ****************************************************************************** Google GSAK and down load GSAk and give the program a good try....I can not think of a better caching program that is so versitile Programs you do need: Premium Membership, GSAK, CacheMate,Laptop PC.....Norton anti-virus program, or a program like it.......One last thing...check out my profile page,,,,may be there could be some help for you in my profile.Good luck and stay safe, Guy (aka.... wild thing 73)
  2. This a very good GPSr....garminMap60CSx.....Check it out.....You get what you pay for....don't think "cheap"...think "inexpensive"...this is I think, the best starter GPS....Remember, cheap cost you more "down the road"......Most of us go through 2-4 GPSr before we get serious...."cost effective" is what it is called....stay safe.
  3. If you are using GSAK. you can send...hints. container, etc. check out "Send waypoints to GPS" then lower right side...Waypoint description format (comment) section....%con1%hint is what I use on my GPS60CSX....I very rearly check my PDA....Stay safe...
  4. Garmin Map 60CSx.....PDA....GSAK....CacheMate......Have fun and stay safe
  5. Just carry a small sprial notebook that you buy at Walmart and when you find a wet or soaked log, just place a sheet of the notebook in container and start a new log...and of course let the CO know via log or email. I did this 2 times today....both old logs were so soaked that they could not be opened. It takes a min or so, but worth the time...I have a few caches out and appreciate when this kindness is applied to my caches. Stay save and happy caching.
  6. In answer to ??? When you want to run a Query....It is your decision....that's what I have been doing for sometime and it works for me. It is your choise.
  7. I have a gps 60CSx, GSAK, and premium membership....for downloading hints, etc...Check my profile page near bottom of page.. stay safe
  8. Try a garmin Map 60CSx.....I believe it is the best all around GPSr................but don't take my word. try one...Stay safe and good luck....One day at a time....
  9. A Premium Membership is a great program with lots of "bells and whistles....The purchase of a PM also helps pay for the fun and excitment that we cachers enjoy.....It will be a wise choice...I have a garmin 60 CSx and I can use Premium membership and GSAK to send the "hint" and type of "container" to my GPSr....This is a quick view of cache information in the field without going to my PDA....Check my "profile page" for information that maybe of help to you...Good luck and stay safe....
  10. Wow, what a radical request in a fun game...If this would happen, the cache owner should just archive the cache placement....I find it hard to believe that a reviewer would do such a thing.....If so, we are not in america any more....
  11. I recomend that you consider becoming a "Premium Member".....Then you wiil have an oportunity for all the "Bells & Whistles" plus along with placing caches it is a good way to "pay back" geoaching for all the fun and excitiment that you are having and will have. Good luck and stay safe...
  12. If you noticed, most caches that are placed in the woods are placed in the winter or fall seasons...I was guilty of this before I wised up....I like Micro type hides, but will tackle any "Traditional" cache.....Multi's are mainly dumb cache hides.....You travel about 15 miles or so, more or less for just one smiley.....Don't not make sense to me.... Large caches in the woods are covered with sticks or rocks....too easy.....POW or POR.....Good luck and stay safe....
  13. In my opinon you have the best GPSr....Now you need a PDA of your choice to carry the cache information...If you check out my "profile page" will see what I have done with the help of GSAK to turn my 60csx into a limited PDA....TO get all you CAN GET OUT OF THIS GAME,,,,you will need to buy a PM, GSAK, PDA, cacheMate.....these are super programs for a cacher that is some what serious about caching and "paying back" to the game....Please don't think cheap, just think buying what you need at a fair price....Check out your equipment needs on ebay, selected garmin site, etc........Again it may save some time to check out my Profile Page and other cacher PP....good luck and stay safe.....WT73
  14. The best way to "get back" at this person is to hide, maybe 2 or 3 hundred caches and make them all "Traditional" with a "diff" level of 2 1/2....That way you would have a way to grade his complaints. I don't know about him but is would sure make the other cachers in the area happy...Me too. Stay safe...WT73
  15. As a newbie I wonder how many caches you found before you placed your first cache? I have 7 finds so far and I'm getting a Keep2Go ready for my first hide. ************************************************************** Placing caches is as much fun as finding and logging caches....So "Go for it" GFI....Also, when you become a "premium member", you will start having more fun and excitment with all the "bells and whistles that come with the program....CacheMate and GSAK are two more programs that will be helpful...Others will tell you that there are some free programs that will do the same, but, you get what you pay for....Don't think cheap, think "looking for the best deal at a good price"....But of course do this only if you are Hooked on Caching". Then..."Lets go caching" and have a great journey filled with fun, and the enjoyment of the hunt...Stay Safe....Placing caches and becoming a Premium Member" is our way of "paying back" or "Pay Back". for what Groundspeak has made available for us. caching is one heck of a "program". WT73....
  16. All you need is experience.....So just keep on caching and you will get it....Heck you found the forum, so just keep looking.........You can do this with out help.....heck, I did, and I am the dullest knife in the drawer......read, read, read....Stay safe.
  17. A garmin handheld GPSr would help your caching fun...stay safe...and please don't think "cheap"....
  18. Why buy a GPSr, when you can use your friends.................
  19. Check my "Profile" Page for some additional info that maybe helpful. Stay safe.....
  20. Just place in the "hint" (Reach) or about head high....these are great hides...I would not change it....check out the guidelines for diff for "Wheelchair" caches....wheelchair diff is "1 star"...I'm not concerned about "wheelchair" cachers, because these challenged cachers are accompained by family and, or friends that will give help on such as your high cache.....Stay safe and have fun.
  21. I recommend that you save your money and wait until you have about $300 to $400s. You may just be wasting $100....Do just a little more research on ebay and other web sites.....You get what you pay for. Cheap is cheap, but you can pay a little more and save money down the way....Good luck and stay safe.
  22. Instead of a MULTI, why not just place 2 caches or 3 caches and the searchers can log 2or3 caches for smilies. My take is that a cacher runs all over the area looking for 1 smiley, wasting gas, for just 1 smiley. Multi caches just don't make since to me.. I placed one, then archived the multi and placed 2 caches in the same locations for 2 smilies not just 1 (one). But that is just me...good luck and stay safe.
