Here`s my answers: Understanding the final number: the final per capita number is now many people there are for each cache, the smaller the number, the higher per capita count For the columns: Place Name, Province, 2006 population, caches within 10km, caches per capita Most caches Per capita, per province, 10k people or more AB Cold Lake AB 11,991 67 178.9701493 BC Cranbrook BC 24,138 203 118.9064039 MB Portage la Prairie MB 20,494 44 465.7727273 NB Fredericton NB 85,688 395 216.9316456 NF Corner Brook NF 26,623 63 422.5873016 NS Sydney NS 105,928 267 396.7340824 NT Whitehorse NT 22,898 47 487.1914894 ON Cobourg ON 18,210 104 175.0961538 PE Summerside PE 16,153 27 598.2592593 PQ Rouyn-Noranda PQ 39,924 183 218.1639344 SK North Battleford SK 17,765 37 480.1351351 YK Yellowknife YK 18,700 22 850 Top 5 caches per capita locations, 10k people min, 10km limit Cranbrook BC 24,138 203 118.9064039 Cobourg ON 18,210 104 175.0961538 Port Alberni BC 25,297 143 176.9020979 Cold Lake AB 11,991 67 178.9701493 Parksville BC 26,518 148 179.1756757 Top 5 caches per capita locations, 50k people min, 10km limit Fredericton NB 85,688 395 216.9316456 Moncton NB 126,424 464 272.4655172 Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu PQ 87,492 255 343.1058824 Red Deer AB 82,772 238 347.7815126 Sydney NS 105,928 267 396.7340824 Top 5 caches per capita locations, 100k people min, 10km limit Moncton NB 126,424 464 272.4655172 Sydney NS 105,928 267 396.7340824 Victoria ・ BC 330,088 629 524.782194 Sherbrooke PQ 186,952 312 599.2051282 Trois-Rivieres PQ 141,529 230 615.3434783 Top 5 caches per capita locations, 300k people min, 10km limit Victoria ・ BC 330,088 629 524.782194 Halifax NS 372,858 557 669.4039497 Quebec ・ PQ 715,515 505 1416.861386 Ottawa - Gatineau ON 1,130,761 707 1599.379066 Winnipeg MB 694,668 432 1608.027778 Top 5 caches per capita locations, 1mil people min, 10km limit Ottawa - Gatineau ON 1,130,761 707 1599.379066 Edmonton AB 1,034,945 588 1760.110544 Calgary ・ AB 1,079,310 561 1923.903743 Montreal PQ 3,635,571 670 5426.225373 Vancouver BC 2,116,581 294 7199.255102 Top 10 places in Canada, most caches within 10km limit Ottawa - Gatineau ON 707 Montreal PQ 670 Victoria ・ BC 629 Edmonton AB 588 Calgary ・ AB 561 Halifax NS 557 Quebec ・ PQ 505 Moncton NB 464 Winnipeg MB 432 Fredericton NB 395 Top 10 Most Saturated Places In Canada, Overall Saturation is determined by a long and tedious statistical analysis with a team of 15 experts surveying all the details, tabulating and then rechecking the results, finally handing it to a trained monkey to eat the results and spit them out at the blackboard... needless to say, it`s right, or so the money said... +FunkyNassau
ahhh no, it's not weighted to the east, its a simple matter of stats... there are a lot of hiders in cities on the east coast with less then 200k population... stats they don't lie - your stats for Barrie are off Barrie ON 177,061 158 1120.639241 from downtown, only caches under 10km are counted (up to 9.9km are included) Pop numbers and locations are from the 2006 census website HOWEVER - I made some errors in the most saturated lists, which I will correct now -=-=-=-=-=- hmmmm, seems weighed a little heavy to the east. +FunkyNassau
St. Catharines - Niagara ON 390,317 211 1849.843602 because the 2006 census site includes the two areas together, I did as well As such, I picked a spot between the two regions to get a center point I found 221 within 10Km. of a random cache in St. Catharines. +FunkyNassau
Yes you are correct, however the final list is not based only on caches per capita, there are other factors involved Fredericton NB 85,688 395 Moncton NB 126,424 464 Cranbrook BC 24,138 203 Rouyn-Noranda PQ 39,924 183 Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu PQ 87,492 255 Port Alberni BC 25,297 143 Red Deer AB 82,772 238 Parksville BC 26,518 148 Sydney NS 105,928 267 Courtenay BC 49,214 173 Congrats to Freddy in being the new most saturated place in Canada, fitting that the MGA AGM was just held there.. +FunkyNassau
I've been looking at the numbers all day since I finished the stats, and something was bugging me - then I figured it out - I forgot to include overall city population into the final formula for measuring saturation level - so I fixed it, it changed ALL the numbers around so I will close this topic and start a new one with the corrected numbers... I will also post the full list twice - once ordered by caches per capita, and again by overall saturation Link to comment
Mr.Yuck
St. Catharines - Niagara ON 390,317 211 1849.843602 because the 2006 census site includes the two areas together, I did as well As such, I picked a spot between the two regions to get a center point I found 221 within 10Km. of a random cache in St. Catharines. Population 131,000, a little under 600 ppl/cache. I think the 390,217 population is the entire Niagara Regional Municipality. What do I know, I'm not even Canadian! You're right also, I do get about 10 less caches if I pick one right downtown. So we see it's not even close to consideration. Edited September 22, 2008 by TheWhiteUrkel Link to comment
