Garmin Colorado Series Owners Manual

This is a call out to all Colorado owners who would like to see Garmin re-issue their 'Colorado Series Owner's Manual' with better detail.

 

I was very disappointed with the manual. Here are some of the things I was dissapointed in:

 

Not adequate description of all the data fields.

No Glossary

No description of Re-Sets and effect

No description of GPS modes - Normal, WAAS or Demo Mode.

Poor decription of how to use tracks and archive. all functions and their use.

Poor description of all options and their effect on the current function.

No troubleshooting section

Poor description of the satellite screen

You won't like the Oregon manual any better, they are very similar.

Sadly, I have found this to be the norm with all Garmin manuals for the units I own. Thank goodness for formus and other Garmin users!

Have you looked at the Colorado FAQ pinned at the top of these forums?

the CX/HCx legend manuals are the same

very generic, guess it's hard to complain about features not working when you don't even know about them.

At some point, I stumbled across a link on the Garmin support web site for providing feedback on the manuals. I did so (only minor flames), and got a very nice -- but entirely useless -- note back from the documentation people. I have the impression that they are more interested in "pretty and well-written" than they are in actually providing useful content. I suspect this may be because these are the same people who do the manuals for broad-market consumer units like the Nuvi. They don't want to overwhelm the user with actual technical details. Bottom line -- hit the forums and the wiki because Garmin has a different agenda.

At least I don't feel alone in this regard anymore. Thank goodness for this forum. Folks are pretty responsive.
