+Coyoteguy
Hey all! Quick question about logging cache finds... Took the kids out for their first caching run today. Had an absolute blast and they are stoked to do it again as soon as possible. I have a separate account, IE: this one. My family will be going with my at times but not always. I created a team account BUT I was stymied about how to log the finds for them and myself. Should I log one find with the team and then one for myself? One find logged only? What happens if three or four people are going out together? Thanks! As soon as I hear, I'll get things logged. Quote Link to comment

What happens if three or four people are going out together? I have cached with a group already where we made up a team name for the day. The log was signed once with that team name. We all made reference to that team name when logging from our individual accounts. That way the cache owner had a logbook entry to match to our online log. Never had a cache owner question it. You can easily do the same. Sign the team name in the logbook if any team members are with you. Log online for the team and your individual account. Just make sure you mention the team name in the logbook when you log your individual find. Or just sign both names in the logbook. Not a problem either way, but nano owners will appreciate the single team name entry because it uses less of that very limited log space. Quote Link to comment

What I recommend is just use the account you made for just you. When you go out with your family, just write something that says your family was with you. If you want to have the two separate accounts, you will need to log all your finds on your account. You should then log the account for your entire family only if your family was with you. (I don't find this method to be very great.) Quote Link to comment

+The Pathman
The wife and I cache as A team. Even if only one of us actually finds the cache it is signed and logged as the team. Not that my wife is going to let me go caching alone Quote Link to comment
+Coyoteguy
Logging it under my name and then mention that I was with the team seems to make the most sense. As the kids get older I imagine they will want their own accounts but that's not for a few years yet! On ANOTHER related note -- When caching with multiple kids can each of them switch something out or is it better to stick to the simple one item in, one item out rule??? Quote Link to comment

Every visitor to the cache can take an item in trade. Let them have at it!! My family all set up their own accounts when we started and we'd usually just sign the log as "all of us" unless the kids demanded to write in the logbook too. Eventually, I became the most serious geocacher and they almost never log anything online any more. I'll either sign the log as just my name or may include the rest of us if there's room. +lrosell
We, my wife and I, log as a team. We have been thinking about doing it separately but then we realized it would be twice the work. Can't have that. Really, it's up to you. I don't think there's a right or wrong in this. Quote Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
The wife and I cache as A team. That seems weird. But hey, whatever works for you... Quote Link to comment
+Lady Loki
I sign everyone from our team that's with us, when I sign. Sometimes it's both kids, sometimes our housemate's with us, it just depends. But I think only me and my husband have actual accounts here. Quote Link to comment
