Another drive-by

We did a drive by today! We could have stayed in the truck and got the Picture of the station disk except we need to have the GPSr in the picture for the contest.

 

The road in is another story!

 

Here is a shot looking over the side of the road down into the canyon.

 

We only recovered 2 benchmarks today, but had a great time and saw some fantastic scenery!

 

Hope you folks get to have a day like we had today.

I was gonna chew you out for not listing the PID (for those of us too lazy to look it up), but I got off my duff (actually not really) & looked up your logs for 5/3: FQ0689 ...I wanted to check out the USGS topo - that's some nice terrain! I've got to get out & do some desert benchmarking sometime!

I told 'im he shoulda had his 45 out and ready. This is what happens out in the Wild West, on the Reservation no less....

 

 

I was able to get him back to civilization soon enough for him to recover. Let this be a lesson to you, never go out into the boonies alone.

You are correct, it is much closer to the tower than what GE shows.

 

This picture shows just how close it was.

 

 

Our GPSr shows coordinates off by .001' for both lat & long. Less than 6' difference from the published coordinates.
