+flys low Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 what is the drawback, does it update less or what? Quote
+Chuy! Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 For which GPS? On my Etrex Vista HCx, I've read the electronic compass is turned off; provides a fix every 5 seconds instead of one; and satellites are 'polled' with less frequency. I'm sure there are other adjustments made, but these I have read in other threads. Quote
+Prime Suspect Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 what is the drawback, does it update less or what? Yes, but the big drawback is that you can't have WAAS active while in battery saver mode. Quote
+StarBrand Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 WAAS is off, much slower to update your postion. Sadly, it doesn't even extend the battery life by a significant factor. Quote
GeoPirates2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 better off carrying an extra set of batteries Quote
+joranda Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Take my advice, do not put it on battery saver mode. Your coords will always be off. I learned it the hard way. Quote
