nipperoon Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Hi all I am a scout leader (for my sins) and was wondering it could be a good idea to get and set free a travel bug and keep track of it with my scouts to see how far and where it has gone. So where do i get them from and how do i leg them go. I suppose the first place would be to look at the geo web site. but i have not had the time yet and it is only an idea. i would also hope to set up a cache for the scouts as well. Any help would be most gratfully received Quote
Globetrotter.uk Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 http://www.ukgeocachers.co.uk/catalog/trav...-tags-p-37.html The above link will guide you to buying some tags and then get a great item to attach to the tag. When you get you tag you will need to activate it online and then release you bug. Your scout group could have their own GC account so members can watch the bug. Quote

tavernspite Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 If you don't want to buy 5 at a time, they're on ebay for about £3.50 each. Activate it here, http://www.geocaching.com/track/ then just leave it in a cache. It'll have a better chance of completing it's goal, if you attach it's goal to the actual bug. Quote
jerryo Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 and as being discussed in the thread "Big Items in a Small Box ", don't make it too big so a woggle's ok but a tent's perhaps not. Quote
studlyone Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 LOL I am trying to picture a tent TB now Quote
Bear and Ragged Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Tempted to say it's probably better to send out more than one TB. Shame if it gets stuck somewhere for a couple of months in an out of the way cache. At least if there's two (or more) out there one should be moving! +nipperoon Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 i was thinking it wolud be better to send more than 1... i coud just send a small tent with them Quote
Gushoneybun Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 You could do a scout related TB such as this one we moved: Scout Flag Quote
