208scooter
There used to be a way to get the zip code for any city on Geocach home page. Does anyone know what happend to it. I know all I had to do was put in the name of the city and the zip would come up. Thanks for the help scooter Link to comment
+TheAprilFools
Try this http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp The removed it from the search page when they added the ability to search by city name. Of course I used it mainly to lookup zip codes to plug into PQ's, which has not been updated to search by city name. Link to comment
+Semper Questio
Speaking of zip codes, there has been a change where I live. Will TPTB get that info automagically from somewhere? Edited July 20, 2007 by Semper Questio Link to comment
+StarBrand
Speaking of zip codes, there has been a change where I live. Will TPTB get that info automagically from somewhere? Depends on how quickly they get the update data - in the end it is just a lookup table provided by some 3rd party. Link to comment
+Markwell
You can go to this page and in the By Address search and type "City, ST" and it will work (without the NEED to know the zip code). It also works with just typing the zip code in that search. And if you want to do a street address to get it precise - even better. BTW - 18 months ago, our town split into three zip codes from the one (my house got one of the new codes). I tried typing my NEW zip code into that search, and sure enough it WORKED - referencing a point closer to my house than the standard zip code for my town or even the town name. KUDOS! +trainlove
Just memorize zip4, do a google search and the first or second link is what geocaching.com used to link to. As for tptb getting any new info, I don't think they will. They bought the rights to the tiger census database way back when and if there have been any recent changes who do you think are going to pay for the limited new info? Link to comment
+Markwell
But, but, but - as I've shown in my post - the zip code in the By Address lookup ALREADY has an update to the original Tiger Census database they bought "way back" Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
Or you can just enter the city and state into the search box. Link to comment

Mine changed three weeks ago, but it's still no good here on the site. Link to comment

+Markwell
Sure it was removed, but as I said in the first paragraph of post 5, it was made redundant. Link to comment
