+Miss-Keeto
We decided to split our team into individual accounts. Now what should we do? Can we mark the caches we found as a team under our personal accounts or is that bad? Should we start all over? It is a shame as we found caches in Mexico and Grand Cayman. Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions? Thanks! Miss-Keeto Quote Link to comment
+J-Way
That's one of the reasons I disagree with "team cacher accounts" except for certain circumstances. What happens of the team splits up? If a single member finds a few caches on a solo trip, does the entire team get credit for the find? Can a team go to a cache rich area and split up and have each member go after a few caches each? Nothing wrong, however, with a group of individuals searching together and logging each find individually. To answer the question, I'd say you can log a cache under your new account if you personally were there when the team found the cache. This is similar to the process you'd take if you wanted to change your account name (like I did a few months after I started). Remember to back-date your finds. You won't be able to transfer any TB records, unless you happened to write down the tracking number for each one. Just my opinion. J-Way Quote Link to comment
+gh patriot
I always got picked last so I'll probably never get picked to be on a geo-team Quote Link to comment

Yes you can refind the caches from your new/personal account. I would suggest you include as part of the log that you are 're-logging the cache with your new name'. Otherwise it can look very weird when someone post dates a bunch of logs, for finds dated for before they had an account, especially if the caches are far from you. (If I seen something like that I'd think maybe the person was fake logging caches) Also if your former team has any owned caches or travel bugs that'll be dividied up, you can use the page http://www.geocaching.com/adopt/ to move them over. +Retcon
I have a "team" and the main reason is because, other than me, nobody in the "team" cares to log anything, and they always go with me (never alone). Two of the "team" members recently split and they went through my finds, noting which ones they were present for, and logged them. I really don't see a problem, other than a little extra work that, frankly, is expected. Quote Link to comment
Calikat
I think you should. I did this too awhile back, my ex husband and I were geocaching together and separate from each other; I opened a seperate account with in a few weeks of starting geocaching. When we split, I logged the same caches we did. Hey, you were there, right? Go for it!! We decided to split our team into individual accounts. Now what should we do? +Miss-Keeto
Thanks for all your help. I was a little confused with the whole "team" logging issues. So I made sure that every cache was logged when we were both present. Except one in CA when my team-mate visited. I will not log that under my new name. Well I better get logging......ughh. THANKS GUYS!!! Quote Link to comment

Also remember to use the correct log date to avoid confusion. Quote Link to comment
