  1. The 300 looks SOOOO pretty. I haven't ordered yet but expect to before summer. I never buy brand new electronics, preferring to hear other's opinions first. So thanks everybody who does preorder this for making sure it works for me
  2. I have a Palm Handspring and use it only for Geocaching and grocery lists. It does both pretty well and I only spent $30 on it used. The only problem is that if the batteries run out or you take too long to put new ones in before taking the old ones out, then you lose everything. That's less of a big deal if all you do is geocache with it because the only software you'll be running is Plucker and that reloads quite easily once you've done it a couple times

    Can I have your babies?
  4. When I was in Texas recently, I was amazed at how the hiders were able to find appropriate places to place caches, considering the total lack of old hollowed out logs lying around. In NEOhio, the hollow logs are the first things you check.

Actually, I see no reason the GC# search box can't be on every single page of geocaching.com. Put it in the sidebar right under the navigation options.
  6. 3 bucks won't do it if the cache owner deletes it in a month again. My solution: Forget about it. You found the cache and had fun. Will the number of found caches listed on this website being one less than your actual find count really cause you that much anxiety? Geocaching is about the journey, not the destination.
  7. A local multicache here sat for months with several DNF's (including mine) stating that the 2nd stage (of 3) was missing. Nothing was done about it. I logged a Needs Maintainence and within a DAY the owner acknowledged it and is now working on fixing it. I need no futher proof that you should NM a log with DNFs. I mean, if enough people can't find it, there's at least the *chance* that the owner should at least *look* at it, no?
  8. I have a "team" and the main reason is because, other than me, nobody in the "team" cares to log anything, and they always go with me (never alone). Two of the "team" members recently split and they went through my finds, noting which ones they were present for, and logged them. I really don't see a problem, other than a little extra work that, frankly, is expected.
  9. Kubuntu here (Pretty much Debian with bells and whistles), currently on Edgy but have used pretty much every version since Breezy and I've never had any of these problems.
  10. There was a law and order (or maybe CSI, who can tell the difference) episode where a geocacher found the body. later, nearby, the cops found some piece of evidence buried under some rocks or stick or something. My first thought was "No *way* a geocacher would pass that up!"
  11. If you forget to renew, and renew later (as I did) you don't lose anything though.
  12. So on the continuum: 1) One cache in a GPX 2) 10-20 caches in a GPX 3) Pocket Query sized GPX 2 is closer to 3 than 1. Gotcha. For the record, I was just curious, not complaining. While I'd *love* sometimes to just nab a gpx file of a search form, I by all means don't *need* it.
  13. I'm pretty sure the original poster knows that. The question seems to be "why?" or actually "why not?" I mean, the information is *there* and it's obviously possible to put in gpx format. Is there a technical reason why it's not available?
  14. It's only a numbers game if YOU make it a numbers game. Yeah, what the OP is saying is that he can't make it a non-numbers game unless he doesn't allow himself access to the numbers? Kind of like an alcoholic having to separate himself from all alcohol?
  15. If the cost were reasonable, I'd totally do a zipline into the Grand Canyon. It could end at that hotel/restaurant they have at the bottom that's totally not an eyesore.
  16. Okay, that's a funny hint. There are a couple caches around here with very intricate (not necessarily "good" but I'm not in the myspace crowd so my opinion on that could be skewed) cache pages, and IMO the caches are very poor. Your examples, though, make me think yeah, the pages may reflect the caches
  17. Amusing that you tried to show the hypocracy in my statement, when it was intended to show hypocracy in the original statement. Back on topic, I this this the bridge is great. I would even consider paying the $25 to go on it. Now, if it's true that you need an additional $50 to get there, well... It's not that cool.
  18. Untrue. I've paid to get into a park to get a cache that was listed as such. It was a very nice cache, too. I think the cost factor to get into the park helped keep those who would treat the cache poorly away. Plus, I had incentive to stick around and enjoy the park for a while.
  19. Google Earth Pro is likely worth it for someone with a professional need for it. For a geocacher I cannot see any reason for it. Regular old Google Earth does everything I need and more, and is pretty to boot.
  20. Considering the raping of the land by "the white man" (every dam and bridge ever built, New York City, American Idol), I think a 25 foot walkway out over the Grand Canyon isn't all that big a deal.
  21. ??? You don't want to change the size, but want to change the size? "Micro" is a size. "Regular" is a size. To change from micro to regular you are changing the size. Am I mising something? Probably, as I don't have any caches of my own (yet) to try this myself.
  22. You guys are all cheaters, inflating your post counts to win faster than I do. Cheater! Cheater! I'm going to mark this "Needs Maintainence" Where's that plus icon???
  23. I've wanted this for about a year, but am too dumb to suggest it myself. Consider this a "ditto"
  24. Also, even if it *was* easy they *still* shouldn't do it, and here's why: Someone will want them sorted east-west. Someone else will want them sorted north-south. "" by name. "" by waypoint. "" by cache type. etc, etc. *all* of these can be done with *one* single PQ, and simple clicks in GSAK. There is no reason to allow you to run multiple queries on the already overworked database for data that you already have.
  25. Okay, I think I did this right. Never used the bookmark feature before, but Here's what I think is my list. Seems I fail to find roughly 1 out of 10 caches I go for. And I have yet to explode because of it. Question: These lists are "public" but I have no clue how to find any of yours. Where would one go to do this? (edit) I just went through and left notes for each DNF in my bookmark list, and it was kind of neat to do. I'd suggest it to anybody. Interesting notes: Out of 8: 2 I went back and found later. 1 was confirmed muggled and fixed, but I haven't been back yet. 1 is likely muggled and I have left a "Needs maintainence" log. 2 are part of a series that, due to various factors not related to my ineptitude, I will not revisit. 1 got me, and I will go back and find it some day. 1 got me, and due to distance I will likely never get. Type: 4 of my DNFs are multis, 4 are traditionals. Of my finds, 8 are multis and 64 are traditionals. I seem to be worse at multis than traditionals (expected, I suppose) Size: 4 regulars, 2 unchosen, 1 small and 1 micro. Of my finds, 40 are regular, 1 unchosen, 11 small and 19 micro. I seem to be best at finding micros (!) and worst when you don't tell me what I'm looking for. Oh, and the one that was confirmed muggled was likely checked by the owner *because of* my DNF log. I found that interesting as well.
