I'm just starting out on the WDC, and as I plan I always wonder which caches are really worth the cross-state trip. So here's my idea, post the absolutely can't miss caches on your home page (or work page, or even a page that you only visited but the cache is just that good). Also, include what makes them so special, but be sure not to give away any important details that may ruin the hunt or the surprise (if there is one).

Here's some to start:

Pg. 44 ~ Anything by the Caching Cowles Clan, but especially

Art of Aberdeen: Imaginary Menagerie:

http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...81-b18b51fa363f

This one takes the seeker on a walk to explore some very interesting art in downtown Aberdeen ending with a very sneaky final.

A Cog in the Wheel

http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...97-df8b6627cf64

This one takes creativity to an extreme, but plan to spend some time here as most finders have mentioned either multiple attempts or some serious thinking time.

Polson Steam Donkey

http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c4-d283ff77c84f

Like the previous cache this one is a trickster, but very fun!

A Little Looney

http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...85-d4bb04cc72c3

This cache is an area favorite for its sheer creativity.

SuDoKu

http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...8e-963b352b4be7

This cache is forever captured in my camera phone, and is what I show people when trying to explain geocaching. Although it involves solving a sudoku puzzle to get the coords, its not a difficult one, and well worth the time.

Thanks in advance to all who give suggestions!

These caches are good but don't require a hike or have a "GREAT" view. There are several others that offer more I think.

Try "Ring of Fire" It leads you into a steep canyon on the Wynoochee where they blew up an old railroad bridge to make a movie in 1961. The steam engine is still upside down in the river (best seen at low water in Aug. or Sept.) and 2 passenger cars are still on the bank.

"A Salute to Col Bob" is "THE BEST" view in G.H. county.

"Klone Lake" (there's actually 3 of them) takes you across a steep ridge to a pristine lake that only 4 have ventured to go find so far.

"Vista House" is a hike on a gravel road to a unique spot a piece of local history with a moderate view.

Here are a few of my favorites from all over the state.

Erratic Behavior

Roosevelt Grade Overlook

Steptoe Butte

Burley Mtn. Lookout

Cultus Hole #1 (Wally"s Cache)

DEW Line

I thought your wife didn't let you do Steptoe Butte.

Good list, I did some of those. Here are more of my favorites outside of Seattle:

Wading for June (page 33, south of Mount St Helens, easier to get to than Above the Clouds  )

Crowbar (page 62, Gig Harbor)

Covered Bridges of Wahkiakum County (page 30)

The Clay Street Cache (page 58B)

Welch's Bound (page 36)

River's Bend (page 57)

Elk Meadows Cache (page 34)

Mausoleum and A Quarry With a View (page 107, San Juan Island)

Washington Pass Cache (page 112)

Lewis & Clark Camp (page 42)

Just scratches the surface, but hope it helps.
