PawPawcache
Anyone, how can I change my geocaching.com nickname? Thanks Pawpawcache Mike Link to comment
Maingray
Cannot. You used to be able to. I think you could appeal for it's change by emailing Groundspeak, but it would probably need exceptional circumstances. Link to comment
Isonzo Karst
Actually I don't believe there's any means whatsoever to change a 'nick. I was told hydee herself couldn't do it. You just start a new account and transfer your caches and bugs to it using the adoption tool, and go back and relog your old finds. Link to comment
The Leprechauns
We get about five forum threads per week on this question. Would it help to reduce confusion if the page where you edit your profile had an explanation like the following? Edit Account Details For Username The Leprechauns (Note: Usernames cannot be changed; if you want a new username, start another account.) Link to comment

Prime Suspect
I just noticed that on the account set-up page, it now says: This will be the permanent username that represents you to other members, so choose wisely! Link to comment
Team Neos
It's been a long time since I registered an account. Does the page where you create a new account say anything now about "thinking carefully about the name you choose because you won't be able to change it later"? Link to comment
Markwell
Heck - it's even the first thing in my "Hot Topics" on my FAQ, but no one reads that... Link to comment
billdacat
Actually I don't believe there's any means whatsoever to change a 'nick. I was told hydee herself couldn't do it. You just start a new account and transfer your caches and bugs to it using the adoption tool, and go back and relog your old finds. The fact that so many people are asking about it means only one thing.... people want to be able to do it. If other people start caching with you, then it would be nice to be able to add a tagline to the log that could be shown on paid members log entries.. that shows that your family members have joined you in the hunt. My wife and dog have joined me in the hunt but my log says billdacat. I guess they can add their own non paid accounts and clutter up the site. They only go geocaching when I do but I have no way to add them to my account. Maybe its a feature that could be added to paid only accounts? switching and transferring coins, keychains logs etc... ugh what a hassle just to add a person to a team of cachers. You wouldn't have to change the login. but if a tagline would show on logs that would be good enough I would guess.. to give credit to those caching with you without having them clutter up logs with their own entries... duplicate entries for one team visiting the cache are common. +Lil Devil
I guess they can add their own non paid accounts and clutter up the site. As a cache owner, I enjoy reading about the varied experiences of everyone who found my caches, even if they found it as a group. I don't see it as clutter at all. Link to comment
papatom2
When I joined I wanted the name PAPATOM, but it was taken; so I because a 2.
