Raine Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Its working fine for me in both IE and Firefox. Are you maybe blocking scripts/images from Google? -Raine

JBC I've also been having the same problem. It seems to hang while trying to download a file ending in silk.book.png or something like that.
queen_ladybug Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Its working fine for me in both IE and Firefox. Are you maybe blocking scripts/images from Google? -Raine I'm having the same problem. I've been using the Google Maps successfully until a couple of days ago. I have not made any changes to my browser.
alexrudd Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Works fine for me in the latest version of FX. What browser are you using?
Jeremy Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 We pushed some code changes today. Maybe it works now? Raine can pop in after he gets back from lunch.
queen_ladybug Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 (edited) Works fine for me in the latest version of FX. What browser are you using? I'm using IE6 right now. I'm stuck with dial-up out here in the boonies, so I can't download anything else right now. By the way...still not working here. Edited July 28, 2006 by queen_ladybug
FamilyDNA Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I'm also still having a problem. IE and a DSL connection. It was great the first couple of times I used it. Now I lose patience and close the window before it even loads.
Raine Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 For people that are having problems viewing the maps.. is there a # symbol at the end of the URL in the address bar? If there is and you remove it does that solve the problem? -Raine
5winters Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 No # at the end of the URL. (Using IE 6.0) Looks like it's stuck at loading the award_gold_star_3.png file

Raine Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Try holding down the shift key and pressing F5 to fully reload the page and scripts.. -Raine
FamilyDNA Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Try holding down the shift key and pressing F5 to fully reload the page and scripts.. -Raine This didn't do anything for me. It seems to stop before downloading the map. The bottom line says: (5 items remaining) Downloading picture http://www.geocaching.com/images/silk/book.png... and then it just seems to stop.
5winters Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 There loading now, with out doing the shift F5 thing. Thanks, I really like using the Google maps function, thanks!
JBCMaxamillion Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 I'm still having problems, I tried the Shift F5, no luck, there are no # signs at the end of the URL, I get a partial page blank in the midddle, as if it thinks it has fully loaded the map, but I can't see if. No hourglass, just a pointer.
arnoldbikerider Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 (edited) It also hangs for me with IE 6. Edited July 28, 2006 by arnoldbikerider
JBCMaxamillion Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 Okay, I've been messing with it a bit and get it to partially load, here's what's going on. After the page locks up I have a green bar. In the right portion of the green bar is a + and a -, click on the -, then delete the # sign from the end of the URL and click Go. The map will load, but not show the bubble indicating a cache location, there will be a shadow of the invisible bubble. The list of nearby caches will show up on the right. If I highlight a cache then the bubble with the cache number also appears on the map. Hope this makes sense. It's a work around anyway until the real problem is fixed. Note, sometimes the bubble load, sometimes they don't. JBC

Raine Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 We made another change.. lets see if that clears up the issues for people. -Raine
