  1. Go to your bookmarked caches. The ignore list will appear there - remove the cache from the list. I don't see any way to remove only one bookmarked cache in the ignore list. Is this a new feature they added, or can someone tell me how to find a way to remove only one cache?
  2. The story keeps getting better... truly better. My friend is a fireman, and they were cleaning the area around the archived cache location, and he found a TB! So he's going to mark it "retrieved" and put it back into circulation. Not bad...
  3. Final Results... It's an archived Geocache! GCZ1PP - Iron Jackass My friend who is new to geocaching had a blast figuring this out. I'm glad I didn't live so close that I spoiled his fun. Thanks to the suggestions from everyone. I thought it was next to where he worked, but apparently it is closer to his house.
  4. Good idea about the reviewers. I don't think it's a multi or puzzle as nothing within 5 miles has even a close mention of where it's at. I'll post the coordinates he gave me when facebook comes back up. (Yes, I communicate via facebook once in a while...) The "cache" is near 37° 58.632'N 120° 14.233'W. Thanks again for all the interesting help everyone. It's almost like doing a puzzle cache in reverse. Arnold
  5. Not 100% sure it's not a letterbox. I did look and I also looked at Waymark. He has the coordinates (what his GPS said). I guess I'll encourage him to ask other geocacher friends if there was one there, and what it was. Thanks
  6. I have a friend very new to geocaching that has found a geocache that apparently has been archived. He found it because it is outside his work (a fire station) and people keep stopping and finding it. It's not listed as current or anything in the geocache pages. It doesn't seem to be the "end" of a multi-cache or puzzle cache. So how do I find on the Geocaching.com site any archived geocaches? thanks
  7. Maybe I'll just put some sticky tape on the back side, and let it go like a coin. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  8. I found a TB tag only at a cache that had been muggled. Nothing was attached to the tag, just the tag. I logged it like I should, and it's now in my posession. The owner of the TB hasn't been on Geocaching since March, so it doesn't appear the owner will take care of it. Maybe I should attach some toy and set it free, but it brings up another question. How are TB entries that are inactive for months and months removed to an unknown state? Any suggestions on what should be done with this TB? Turn in for the scrap metal value?
  9. My Geocache, GC13CP5, has been found once, but the smile face has a count of zero. Is this because I edited the cache description, or something else interesting?
  10. A PQ? Does that require a PDA?
  11. Is there a way to download the additional waypoints? Like in a LOC or GPX file? Or have I just missed something?
  12. I once heard a simple explanation to the altitude variation. Horizontal position is easier because satellites could be all the way to the horizon, 360° producing your position. The best vertical position would be obtained if you could receive satellites BELOW your position, rather than on only one side.
  13. This is a cache near us that has to do with the original Pirates of the Caribbean Movie. I would rather not give the name because it is an active cache. The ‘top’ is a plaster cast with pirate symbols. The thing that caught my eye was the plastic Disneyland jewel for the eye, otherwise it looks like a lump of concrete. Lifting it up reveals a Tupperware container in the concrete. The location it was placed was perfect for a lump of concrete.
  14. You might also think if you have any objects nearby that might attract maginets. My pocket knife became magnitized, so I need to hold any compass away from my body. (Maybe my personality?)
  15. It's working for me now. Thanks.
  16. It also hangs for me with IE 6.
  17. I don't believe there is any way to filter out caches found when using the Google Maps feature. It would be nice to be able to use the Geocaching - Google Maps to plan where to find those not found caches without including all caches.
  18. Try running this software at home: http://www.huntting.com/sawatch/ It will show you the accuracy (relative) of your own GPS, and you will learn about it at the same time. I'm not associated with SA Watch
  19. Don't forget that EPE is just that... an ESTIMATE provided by your manufacturer. Don't you think that every manufacturer wants to make their GPS look great? A low EPE is the way, and they can't be wrong since it is only an EXTIMATE. Give the SA watch program a try, even if just for fun. You will learrn more about your GPS in the process.
  20. You just might try testing your own GPS with SA Watch. It's a free program, then you can see for yourself if WAAS is better on or off. http://www.huntting.com/sawatch/ The accuracy listed on your GPS is a calculation done by your manufacturer, and real results may vary. (I'm not associated with SA Watch.)
