ChaseOnTheGo Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Has anyone ever thought about making a cache with some dog bones and dog stuff and have the dog find the cache from the smell of the bones? Then dogs can have their own user name.....
Kacky Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Has anyone ever thought about making a cache with some dog bones and dog stuff and have the dog find the cache from the smell of the bones? Then dogs can have their own user name..... Critters might tear it up if you put treats in, but I have seen themed cache listings that have dog toys, dog-related swag and gift certificates.
anlufu Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 There is a cache in South Africa that askes for only dog related stuff to be traded. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...79-eede7be5586f

Poidawg Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 There is one near me, the contents do not have dog food or bones, but leashes, collars, collar tags, frisbees, tennis balls etc...
briansnat Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Has anyone ever thought about making a cache with some dog bones and dog stuff and have the dog find the cache from the smell of the bones? If the dogs will be able to sniff it out, so will the local bear, raccoons, skunks, porcupine, mice, etc...
SixDogTeam Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 ...Weasels, badgers, possums, coyotes, kangaroos, komodo dragons, ...
BomberJjr Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I've seen both a dog cache called Dog Walk and a cat cache called Cat In The Cache (not exactly for cats to find, just had cat toys in it).
fishingfools Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 no doggie treats in mine, dont want the critters to get it
The Herd Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 We have one near the local dog pound Geo's Cache. We also have one in our local state park called Geo's Cache. Geo's Cache. Our beagle (rescued from the pound) is also named Geo. She is also a travel bug. Geo The Caching Beagle Back OT...we allow dog raw-hides in the cache, but they MUST be unscented. The state park here is one of THE MOST raccoon dense parks I have ever seen, and we have yet to have a raccoon attack our cache...knock on wood!
team moxiepup Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Our dog, Moxie, has her own dog-themed cache. Moxie's Dog Lover's Cache We don't encourage hiding food items, as it would be likely found by muggle dogs!
Arrow One Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I have a cache in NJ called "Cat and Dog Hotel". It has toys in it only. Treats might get other animals sniffing around too.
SomewhereInND Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Has anyone ever thought about making a cache with some dog bones and dog stuff and have the dog find the cache from the smell of the bones? Then dogs can have their own user name..... Well sort of, but its more along the lines of a dogs perspective of geocaching. GCW8FN
hide & seekers Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Here's my dog-themed cache. A Doggone Good Cache! I had to disable it because the fencerow it was hidden in burned! And burned the cache container slightly too. Mixed reviews on it, I think. Some really enjoyed the dog/cat theme. Others just sought it out as another cache. If I were going to a pet-theme cache, I would definitely have a pet item to trade.
