Teeny Tiny Travel Buglet?

Criswell

I am considering purchasing and activating a Travel Bug, with the intent of replicating the dog tag only much smaller; small enough for a film can microcache, or even smaller. Are there any restrictions or things I need to know or do or get approved to do this. Thanks.

I don't think so. My understanding is that what you're really buying is the tracking number and attendant web service. If there are copyright issues with the tag design, somebody from Groundspeak will probably weigh in. I think a teeny tiny tag would be very cool.

Wasn't Criswell the psychic dude in Plan 9 from Outer Space?

The real issue is will your modified TB be lost.

Considering the size, yes it is more likely to be not recognized as a TB.

I say go for it and let us know when it's released.

I have found two of those. They consisted of just the numbers cut from the larger TB tag. One was attached to a tiny pickle. It's goal was to have its picture taken with motocycles . . . Think Arlo Guthrie.

I think it is still alive and well and traveling to caches small and smaller.

Edit to add link to bug

Its mission will be to ONLY travel in micros, preferably Lamp Post Caches. With that in mind, I plan to put a Lamp Post Cache made from a toy ammo box that I found in a dollar store military playset. "How do you fit an ammo box under the skirt of a lamp post?" is what I want to call it. The logs should be hysterical.

And, yes, my namesake, Criswell really slept in a coffin, and appeared in Plan 9 and other Ed Wood films.

The soft aluminum tags can easily be bent to fit inside a film can or M&Ms tube. I used a soft mallet and tapped the tag around a socket to make a curved tag for my micro bug.

We have a TB just like this. Beady the Micro TB We made it out of a shrinky dink. Just wrote the TB number on the bottom. It traveled well at first but now appears to be stalled.....:) We wrote the holder and they said they still have it but have not been able to place it yet. Hopefully they will soon.

There are also some very nice micro geocoins for sale! This will fit easily into a film cannister or even smaller containers. I have several to put out in waterproof match containers.
