jcc123
I just updated my firmware to the new 2.6 and I notice that on the system menu page the info now says "Software Version 2.60 GPS SW version 2.4". What the heck is that second part? I've never seen the GPS SW Version before...anyone know what this is about? Quote Link to comment
lamarieves
I posted the same question for my 76 csx and no one has answered yet Quote Link to comment
+weakfish
If it's any consolation, after updating my 60Cx to 2.60, it doesn't mention the software version at all on the startup screen... Go figure.... Works fine though... Quote Link to comment
lamarieves
You have to go thru the set up menu to get tthe software version Quote Link to comment

+Rotareneg
Hmm, on my 60Cx it's "GPS SW Version 2.30" Quote Link to comment
+Vaucluse
Hmm, on my 60Cx it's "GPS SW Version 2.30" Me too. I think, that the CSx's have the Version 2.40 and the Cx's have the Version 2.30 I assume that these numbers are the firmware of the GPS chipset (Sirf). Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
On my GPSMap60Cx: Software Version 2.60 GPS SW Version 2.30 Unit ID The GPS had been purchased at software version 2.30, and upgraded to 2.50, then 2.60 Edited March 1, 2006 by GOT GPS? Quote Link to comment
jcc123
The way to check the software version is: go to "setup" page in the menu then "system" once your on the system page hit <menu> and it should display your firmware version. I guess now Garmin separates the GPS chipset firmware from the acutal unit firmware. Cool. Quote Link to comment
robertlipe
I would assume that's correct. Watching the bytes of device discovery on 2.50 firmware fly by, we see "VERSMAP1.None.SIRFGPS.GSC3f.Software.Version.2.20." So I'm guessing that the firmware running on the Sirf itself did get a bump and they thought it was important that a user be able to tell this. Quote Link to comment
lamarieves
Here is the reply from Garmin on the Software Version vs GPS SW Version "Thank you for contacting Garmin. The software version is the version of the operating system on the unit. The gps version is the version of the software on the gps receiver itself. Feel free to contact us again by phone(M-F 8am-5pm CST) or e-mail for any further assistance."
