+FluteLlama
How do you go about inserting photos, graphics, or tables into your Cache's page? I'm trying to get a Su DoKu puzzle (in table format) into the listing for my cache. But it won't copy in as anything other than just jumbled up numbers. I've tried taking a digital photo of the table, but that merely uploads into the GALLERY as a teee tiny blur instead of a table onto the Cache's page. Help! I'm stumped. What do I do? +StarBrand
What was the table created with?? Many programs have a save as HTML function - save it that way and then open the file in notepad and copy the resulting HTML into the description. Make sure you click the checkbox for "The description contains HTML" Or manually program the HTML. Quote Link to comment
+PastorDIC
Make sure the box for HTML is checked - "The descriptions below are in HTML". The HTML for inserting the picture is <img src="http -insert the location of the file on your page here- .jpg">. An example would be on the page for Lewisville BookCrossing Stop and TB Reading Lounge by PastorDIC (GCKWQ2) I have a picture on the page , and the html is <img src="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/ce4b7f72-268f-4205-99a9-e9df44ea0224.jpg"> Quote Link to comment
+FluteLlama
Thanks, I'll try that. But will that HTML function then screw up the rest of my text? Would I have to go back and enter all of that into HTML as well? How tedious that would be. It's been quite awhile since I've done a webpage, so I'd have to refresh my memory of all the codes. Oh my...I hope I won't need to do all of that just for this one cache. Thanks again for your help. FluteLlama Quote Link to comment
+FluteLlama
Thank you! I'll give it a try. But let me ask you...won't that mess up all the rest of my text b/c it isn't in HTML. I did it in WordPerfect and just did a Copy/Paste for the rest of the text. Thanks again, FluteLlama Quote Link to comment
+PastorDIC
I only had 3 types of html on the page I mentioned. URLs for links and images. <p> at the end of a paragraph when there was a new paragraph below it. <b>text here</b> for bolded text. Quote Link to comment

I used LI for bullets in a recent description, with the HTML box checked. It went back and added the UL & /UL commands automatically. Oh, yeah. It did make any other paragraphs turn into run-on paragraphs. I had to go throw a <P> in after each paragraph to make it look right. JohnTee Quote Link to comment
+Harry Dolphin
For my Sudoku Puzzle, I set it up in Excel, Control Print Screen, then pasted into a blank photo editing program. Cropped as necessary, and saved it as a jpeg. Works for me. Quote Link to comment

Cropped as necessary, and saved it as a jpeg. Works for me. May work in that case, but it's quite rude to post puzzles as JPEG images when the contents need to be transcribed by hand. For a Sudoku puzzle, the solver can just print it and work it out, but for many other puzzles, the transcription can be tedious and error-prone. The most infuriating puzzles are those with long strings of numbers saved as JPEG files. Quote Link to comment
+mizdeeds
So, when submitting a cache page for the first time, is there a "preview" option, as there is here in the forums? I am getting ready to post my first cache hides, and would like to be able to make sure my html works and the pages look like I want them to before going public with them. Thanks! +FluteFace
I gotta ditto the jpg option, in one form or another. I like to use a screen shot in Paint Shop Pro saved as a jpg file. An example can be found in my cache, Munson's Music. The sheet music was created in Finale. I took a couple of screen shots and pasted them together, then saved the resulting jpg file. The file actually resides on our webspace, but I suspect you could create the cache page, then upload the picture to the gallery, then edit the page to reflect the gallery url for the full sized image. BTW, I've got to know -- you must be a flutist with llamas? I am, too. We've got three of the beasties. Quote Link to comment

Miz You can preview and re-edit your page to your heart's content before submitting it, if you uncheck the box that says "Yes, this cache is currently active" on the cache-edit page. Once you're happy with it, check the box and it will go into the reviewer queue. Quote Link to comment

Yes, in order to incorporate an image in your page, you DO need to do the following: 1) in page edit mode, check the box marked "the descriptions below are in HTML"2) use HTML code as and where you wish, to make font italic or bold, or to change font size or color.3) use the <img src=http://www.xxxx.com/funny1.jpg> code in order to insert the image. But, the most important thing is that you must first have UPLOADED the image to the cache listing page (or to a page somewhere on the web; perhaps a page on one of your websites) and then you must cut and paste the image URL into the "<img src=xxxxx>" statement. To upload an image to your cache listing page, click on the "upload images" button in the upper right corner of the page. Quote Link to comment
