bambam26
What are the different colored jeeps next to some cache listings? Quote Link to comment
cache_test_dummies
Do you mean this jeep? That icon indicates that there is (or should be, if it hasn't been taken yet) a Jeep Travel Bug in that cache. Yellow Jeeps were released in 2004, and white Jeeps in 2005. Quote Link to comment
bambam26
They are like the bugs then? They travel and get tracked? Quote Link to comment
Night Stalker
They should have a number which when registered will allow you to enter the contest by jeep to win a real one. Quote Link to comment
Prairie Dog
They are like the bugs then? They travel and get tracked? YES! Grab one and move it along to another cache. Quote Link to comment
StarBrand
They should have a number which when registered will allow you to enter the contest by jeep to win a real one. Contest is over now but the bugs should keep moving. Quote Link to comment
Jeep_Dog
Whew. When I saw the topic on the message board, I thought I had been iconified. Quote Link to comment
BilboB
Dont be too surprised when you DON'T find one though. For some reason, cachers have come to cherish these glorified $3 Walmart hotwheels. Do a good search and check the dates for the jeep placement. Good work up front pays off for those times when you might find yourself hiking a few miles each way up the backside of a skislope only to find that there is no jeep and it has been missing for months and you were too busy too check it out beforehand....not that I would know anything about that. +I.R. Geonut
I hate when that happens. All I want is the icon in my list of finds and people gotta steal the Jeep before I get there. I think my friends Geocoin died the same death recently. What would one do with it, show their caching buddies? Edited January 19, 2006 by I.R. Geonut Quote Link to comment
Chuy!
In my caching circle, there is a general consensus to place Jeeps in 4/4 caches or any combination above that. Some folks have remarked against this practice, e.g. cachers in wheelchair, pregnant, etc... but most accept and practice the measure to keep the Jeeps from being "stolen". Some still disappear but I noticed a mark difference in longevity after this practice was initiated. Quote Link to comment
