I've never taken mine all the way down to zero, but 8 hours minimum is about right.

In four years, my Palm M500 has only once run out of "juice." It happened when I was on a trip that was unexpectedly extended for four additional days.

 

After that, I remembered to take the smaller HotSync cord with me . . .

I once used my old m505 in Europe for two weeks without a recharge. Granted, I wasn't using it constantly, had beaming turned off and didn't use expansion cards.

 

Now I own a TE. Its a pretty good pda, but the battery life isn't even close.

I don't know about continuious use, but my once I charge my M505 it will stay charged for a few weeks. When I'm caching with it, its only on for a few minutes at a time.

We can usually go for a couple of days of caching with the M515, but of course it's only on intermittently. Radio Shack sells a cheap charger that plugs into your car power outlet; we use that for longer cache runs.

Turn on the backlite & mine last a few hours.

Charged up, not used, 3 days later battery is at 75pc.

I think I need a new battery.

I have a 515 that I use almost daily, I keep the backlight off for the most part and still get ~6 hours per day. There are ways to change the battery pack in the 500 series, but it takes a little delicate surgery. You can go here for one example. Just google palm m5XX battery replace - if that's what you were looking for.
