mynamesbruce
Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone had bought anything from www.gpsworldwide.co.uk or .com... it seems bizarrely cheap, so am slightly sceptical about it. Please help!? Thanks, Timmi Quote Link to comment

Nediam
http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk pretty good site and i know of quite a few people purchased from here. efficient service and competative prices. Yep I've used www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk and their next day delivery service several times. They've always delivered on time and their prices were very competitive (last time I looked anyway). Quote Link to comment
+The Hokesters
I agree with my asteemed colleagues. What are you after though? - there may be other options... Quote Link to comment
mynamesbruce
Thanks folks, much appreciated. I was after a etrex legend. We're pretty new to geocaching, and have had to borrow a gps everytime, so have finally decided to buy our own. Very exciting, but any tips and help are worth their weight in gold! Cheers, Timmi Quote Link to comment
+tteggod trackers
i have a legend and cant really fault it.Etrex wise i personally think its the best option. There is an earlier thread about "which gps" in the top fav topics . good luck http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=90101 Edited January 14, 2006 by tteggod trackers Quote Link to comment
+Nellies Knackers
Go for the best you can afford as you'll only end up upgrading later with mapping features and better chipsets, the list goes on... Quote Link to comment
+tteggod trackers
just seen this...depending on budget may be good start just so long as you keep it warm!!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...mMakeTrack=true looking thru past auctions you could pick up good 2nd hand unit for under a £100 if you are prepared to bide your time.Just check the base maps are uk . +The Hokesters
Fo a legend I would def. recommend eBay. Just look out for US sellers masquerading as UK. Our Geko 301 (new and unopened) was listed as being in the UK but when I emailed them to ask why it hadn't arrived after 6 days they admitted it was coming from the States and through customs as a gift! In the end though we got it a good £60 cheaper than we could have got it in the UK and we never got collared for duty. I also suggest a topic in the UK forum "In the market for an eTrex Legend - anyone got one for sale?" Quote Link to comment
+Nellies Knackers
I got my vista from the US via ebay and had no problem, basemap was UK,was sent as a gift so no duty charged and I saved about £80, the auction stated that it was sent as a gift and they could not guarantee avioding import tax so I didn't mind. +Sue and Bernie
Just check the base maps are uk . Do not concern yourself overly about the basemap if you go for a mapping unit - you'll never use it intentionally! When you load your eTrex with map data, it overwrites the very rudimentary basemap. My Vista C with 24 MB of memory will hold Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, a chunk of Kent - and this is using City Navigator data that includes autorouting information. That's a fair bit of cycling! Using Garmin's Mapsource data, (which excludes the autorouting info) you can load a far greater area. If you are desperate to have basemap data installed you can obtain Garmin's World Map cheap - this has the whole world at pish resolution. +dibbler69
My wife bought me a legend from http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GARMIN-ETREX-LEG...1QQcmdZViewItem She ordered it just before Christmas. Came in about 5 days by airmail. Total cost was about £102. It is new but came with out any boxes. UK map built in.With the data lead. Only thing it didnt have was a mapsource disk.
