+Riverside
We thought we would get it on the board. We will welcome everyone back to Windsor - April 23, 2006 for our first CITO event. Quote Link to comment
+DNStephens
Thanks for the advanced notice! But... Rats! I can't make it on a Sunday and especially this one as it is the 185th anniversary celebration of the church I pastor in Woodstock. Next time. Quote Link to comment
+Team Tigger International
CITO Day is April 22. Any chance of moving the event back a day? Wulf Quote Link to comment
+Riverside
Sure can April 22 it is !! Quote Link to comment
+Team Tigger International
Yay! Now Star can come too! Let me know when you've got co-ords. We're planning a cache and thought we could try to work around the event location. Wulf Quote Link to comment
+Riverside
We thought we would put everything downtown. You should see the kind of political pull we have downtown. Look for " Welcome to Windsor" next week. This is the first of our downtown series and will show everyone what kind of support we have !! The Plan Everything begins at the co-ords below and ends at noon for lunch at a restaurant. N 42° 19.037 W 083° 02.974 is the clean up area. Once cachers have helped do their part, we will give a list of bonus caches spread amongst downtown with the help of downtown businesses. Kind of backwards from what you and Othum have done. This is cache first , eat and socialize last. This way no-one is in a hurry to leave or eat their lunch. Those that help clean up first will be rewarded by getting the co-ords for the caches and possible FTFs. It will also be a walking event. We hope to place all caches within walking distance of the clean up site and restaurant. No need to race around in our cars. any thoughts ? Quote Link to comment
+DNStephens
Sounds good, and calming, and do-able. What about turning the caches into a great big group thing, rather than a race. That would be novel eh? Thanks for changing the date. I can come now. WooHoo! Quote Link to comment
+Riverside
The first of our Windsor CITO - caches went out today. "Welcome to Windsor" GCT6TY. Once you find it, this should give people an idea of the kind of cooperation we have for our event on April 22. Oh ya. Lunch for April 22 is set up. Patrick O' Ryans upstairs !!! +Riverside
We have News or should I say we have THE News ....CBC to be exact. In planning our CITO. One big reason for the choice of parks to clean was its proximity to the CBC Broadcast Studios in Windsor. The old railroad cut is next door. 200ft. and yes I spoke we Susan Pedler , host of Canada Now. She be donning some work gloves and bring some of her colleagues. MORE.... The City of Windsor Public Works Departments and the Parks and Recreation Department will be lending a hand as well. They will be donating the supplies. Garbage bags, gloves etc. We have been even issued a GEOCACHING PERMIT. Got to be a first here in Windsor. Spread the word.. We need Geocachers out in force. Quote Link to comment
+Riverside
Windsor CITO UPDATE- We had a site plan today - March 14. The City of Windsor Parks Dept. and Public Works Dept with myself looked at the site and actually decided to move the CITO site 4 blocks west. New co-ordinates are N 42 18.799 W 083 03.188. This is the other old railway cut between Wellington and Cameron. and From Wyandotte north to the Riverside Drive. We also have quite a few door prizes to give away too , but could always use more. We will do this at lunch. Quote Link to comment
Ravnos
You know something just struck me as odd , isn't the upstairs of Patrick O'ryans a mexican restaraunt/dance club? Quote Link to comment
+Riverside
Perhaps after-hours. During the days the upstairs is lent out for people to use...baby showers, parties, get-togethers, geocache events !! Minors are allowed during the day. It is a restaurant, both up and downstairs during the day. Quote Link to comment

+Team Tigger International
Good job Doug. We had fun meeting new cachers and cleaning up. Sooooo....Who's hosting the fall event? Wulf Quote Link to comment
+clatmandu
Doug, You did a great job organizing this CITO. It was a pleasure to help our Canadian neighbors clean up one of their parks. I'm guessing there were about 50 people that showed up. Quote Link to comment
+Team Tigger International
Is that Clayton lurking in the background? Wulf Quote Link to comment
+clatmandu
Not me, I had a short sleeve shirt on. Is that the only photo that was printed? Sure was nice to have the press and TV station there for coverage. Quote Link to comment
+Team Tigger International
That was the only photo in the article. I'd post the whole story but it doesn't scan well and I'm not able to access the online content. Wulf Quote Link to comment
+clatmandu
I couldn't access it either. LucyintheSky said she would try scanning the article and send it to me. If so, I'll post it here. Quote Link to comment

Wailing Moosehead
Well, here it is. It lost a good chunk of its clarity during the upload, so I hope it's of at least some use to those interested. It was a very positive write-up -- kudos to all involved! WMH Quote Link to comment
+Othum
Check out the cache page for a clearer copy that lucyinthesky posted. Quote Link to comment
