  2. Add my name to the list of users requesting Canadian Benchmarks be listed in GC. There are alternatives to paying a licensing fee. We could just find them and list them blindly if Groudspeak would help. When the geomatics see that we are updating their recovery lists , like they are in the US and realize that we are an asset and a resource they might see things differently. Benchmarks are now updated on an annual basis in the US. As for Canada's who knows ? I would like to know what kind of clout us Canadians have here?
  3. The topic has surfaced !! Litter is amongst us. We must mobilze, conquer, geocache and find refreshments. Sunday April 15, 2007 is our date. The City of Windsor will again be providing us with resources. Door prizes will be plentiful ( maybe some 2007 CITO coins will surface !) The date is the day after International CITO day. Friends across the river have already scheduled events for that day, the 14th. So unless there is overwhelming decent on the date, I think this will be alright. We are presently scouting out locations. And yes we are being lobbied !!! "Do it in my ward." Those that came saw politicians and the media out there ,and word has spread about the great job all us geocachers did. I could use a hand in getting new caches out there this year. please contact me. While I concentrated a lot on getting the clean-up resources, the caches I felt could have been stronger and I apologize for the weak ones.
  4. Parking at the CITO site is in the Bingorama - Derby Bingo parking lot. 1297 University Ave. Washrooms will be open in the Bingo as well, for our use. 5. Perhaps after-hours. During the days the upstairs is lent out for people to use...baby showers, parties, get-togethers, geocache events !! Minors are allowed during the day. It is a restaurant, both up and downstairs during the day.
  6. one more in Windsor..GCR91K
  7. We are 2 miles from the US in Windsor, Ontario We would love to have this as a door prize too. We will easily have many US residents attend our event as they have attended Windsor events in the past. Perhaps Trimble could do something for those hosting events outside the US ! They do call it International CITO Day Windsor CITO 2006 - GCR2K9
  8. No idea, but I think it's pretty odd to have a trackable milestone coin anyway. I mean that's a personal accomplishment. The coins from the caching place are kind of like little trophys in that sense. Why the heck would someone want a trackable milestone coin? You are right. Its the accomplishment and I am sure the coin would not get traded but I thought it was a neat icon that went with the coin. I am looking for a milestone coin to give to a friend. I wanted to see what this one looked like with the icon compared to the caching places coin which is nice too.
  9. Who produced the milestone coins that has the ammobox icon with the particular number on it ? I know "the caching place" has milestone coins but I do not think they are trackable. So who has these ones ? Ichel 's Webpage
  10. Live Free or Die.... No Sales Tax in N.H.
  11. Windsor CITO UPDATE- We had a site plan today - March 14. The City of Windsor Parks Dept. and Public Works Dept with myself looked at the site and actually decided to move the CITO site 4 blocks west. New co-ordinates are N 42 18.799 W 083 03.188. This is the other old railway cut between Wellington and Cameron. and From Wyandotte north to the Riverside Drive. We also have quite a few door prizes to give away too , but could always use more. We will do this at lunch.
  12. I guess the requests can start here !! I frequent the MEC english stores and I hope MEC puts something on in other provinces !! This would be great for Geocaching in Canada to have an event like this across the country, nevermind the exposure for MEC. Toronto MEC svp!!
  13. put me down for a couple. Who is handling this ?
  14. We have News or should I say we have THE News ....CBC to be exact. In planning our CITO. One big reason for the choice of parks to clean was its proximity to the CBC Broadcast Studios in Windsor. The old railroad cut is next door. 200ft. and yes I spoke we Susan Pedler , host of Canada Now. She be donning some work gloves and bring some of her colleagues. MORE.... The City of Windsor Public Works Departments and the Parks and Recreation Department will be lending a hand as well. They will be donating the supplies. Garbage bags, gloves etc. We have been even issued a GEOCACHING PERMIT. Got to be a first here in Windsor. Spread the word.. We need Geocachers out in force.
  15. We are hosting one April 22, 2006 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada just across the river from Detroit, Michigan, USA. The City of Windsor Parks and Recreation and the City of Windsor Publc Works Department are assisting us !! Windsor CITO Event -GCR2K9 CleanCityWindsor.Ca
  16. The first of our Windsor CITO - caches went out today. "Welcome to Windsor" GCT6TY. Once you find it, this should give people an idea of the kind of cooperation we have for our event on April 22. Oh ya. Lunch for April 22 is set up. Patrick O' Ryans upstairs !!!
  17. We thought we would put everything downtown. You should see the kind of political pull we have downtown. Look for " Welcome to Windsor" next week. This is the first of our downtown series and will show everyone what kind of support we have !! The Plan Everything begins at the co-ords below and ends at noon for lunch at a restaurant. N 42° 19.037 W 083° 02.974 is the clean up area. Once cachers have helped do their part, we will give a list of bonus caches spread amongst downtown with the help of downtown businesses. Kind of backwards from what you and Othum have done. This is cache first , eat and socialize last. This way no-one is in a hurry to leave or eat their lunch. Those that help clean up first will be rewarded by getting the co-ords for the caches and possible FTFs. It will also be a walking event. We hope to place all caches within walking distance of the clean up site and restaurant. No need to race around in our cars. any thoughts ?
  18. Sure can April 22 it is !!
  19. We thought we would get it on the board. We will welcome everyone back to Windsor - April 23, 2006 for our first CITO event.
  20. Riverside and Young Riverside will be there once we figure out how to bring all our gadgets. Black lights, code inigmas, topos, satellite photos, metal detectors, our laptop... oh bother.....can not forget our gpsrs.. One can never be too prepared to hunt for Tigger's cache ( Pooh's Honey or a Pot of Gold)
  21. 1. It is illegal to used the all the GMRS channels in the US, low and high powered without a license but not illegal to own a Rino or use one in the US. Simply turn off the GMRS when crossing the border and use the FRS ones. 2. In Canada one can use the FRS or GMRS low channels without a license. 3. It is not illegal to own a Rino 530 built in the United States. It is illegal however to use the high powered GMRS channels in Canada without a license. You can get a license for them. But you will be licensed only to use the channels not used by existing services. Bring it the country and turn the high powered channels off until you get a license or until the laws changed, which will be soon. Spetrum Managament Canada has sent notices out to existing users about the change and possibly interference because of what they call "graymarket" units. The Impact of GMRS Radios on Existing Land Mobile Service Users The frequencies set out in Table 1 for GMRS radios, are currently assigned to the land mobile service. (Footnote 2)The 16 new frequencies identified for GMRS radios currently accommodate a large number of land mobile. The Department’s licensing database indicates that there are approximately 127 mobile licensees across Canada, operating 108 base stations and 4590 mobile devices on the 16 newly- designated proposed GMRS frequencies. (Footnote 3) The existing land mobile users in the 16 new frequencies include those licensees who provide critical communication services for hospital, public safety, public utility and transportation purposes. In the case of hospitals and health care facilities these frequencies are used for medical telemetry purposes such as heart monitors. Consequently, the Department has sent a notice to hospitals and health centres to advise of the potential for interference to medical telemetry equipment from gray market GMRS radios. COMING SOON In anticipation of GMRS radios being permitted for sale in Canada, the Department has ceased licensing the land mobile service in the frequencies identified in Table 1 for GMRS radios. With the release of this policy, the Department is officially announcing a licensing moratorium for the land mobile service in those 16 frequencies. Upon the introduction of GMRS radios, mobile service operation in these frequencies will have similar status to licence-exempt GMRS radios. As such, land mobile licensees that choose to remain in these frequencies may receive interference and may not claim protection.

    Help!

Maybe the cache has grown legs. Caches do get muggled every once in a while. Muggled- stolen by none geocachers aka geomugglers have you emailed the owner to check to see if its still there ? which cache is it?
  23. We did it. Got to brag about it !!! Jumping up and down. We found White Sand, the elusive cache that has not been found since October 2003. It is a cache on an island at the mouth of the Detroit River almost in Lake Erie. It is a great spot in a virtually unknown conservation area. How many other Canadian Caches are there that have not been found in such a long time ? White Sand
  24. My two favorite sports; eating and geocaching.
