ImpalaBob
There is an E-trex legend below for around $100. You probably want at a minumum a unit that can interface with your computer so you do not have to hand enter every coordinate. Do some research here before jumping in .... maybe even try and hook up with a few experienced cachers in your area and try a few different units out before buying. ImpalaBob Quote Link to comment
tossedsalad
Depending on what you want in the unit, you may find a new one is as cheap as a used one. There is a new iFinder GO from Lowrance that seems to be the cheapest unit around and includes maps. You can find it at gpscity.com or tigergps.com for under $80 including shipping. You don't see many used units below this price. But if you are patient, you might find something as low as $50 or $60. Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
Do what I did and head over to ebay. With a little luck and patience, you can get a GPS very cheaply. Quote Link to comment

Furcifer10
Don't go with the cheapest just for the sake of saving a few dollers. The Cobra 500 are cheap, but they are not very useful for geocaching, and are hard to use. Instead look for the best deal on a GPS that does what YOU need from it. There are a lot of places that you can compare features and then save money by looking for the best price on the GPS that you want. Edited July 11, 2005 by Furcifer10 Quote Link to comment
+wolfmaster
If you decide to go with an E-Trex make sure you get the latest version. If you don't, you'll end up with an inferior model. See below. Thank you for contacting Garmin. Unfortunately, this model had to undergo a slight change due to a parts issue. With the newer parts, the unit could have added capability including the Trip Computer. However, we are not going to trash the earlier units as we are very capable of supporting the units currently in the market. What this means is that we have two different versions of the same model in the market. If you want the one with the Trip Computer page, contact the dealer where it was purchased and see if they will exchange it. You are going to want one with software version 3.00 or greater. +Zephyrpl
Instead of just shopping price, do some research. Go to eopinions.com and read what people have to say. Amazon.com also has user ratings and comments. Finally, http://gpsinformation.net/ contains tons of information. Good luck Zephyr Quote Link to comment
