  1. I found one of those little guys a few weeks ago. The address they gave me, www.littlearmymen.com did not work. Littlearmyman.com doesn't work either. good luck. Zephyr
  2. If they are the large size cans, they are perfect for storing and carrying cds. I usually can get around 20 cds in one ammo can. Keeps 'em try and away from anything that might damage them. Zephyr
  3. Yea, put it in the railroad category. There seems to be consistent interest in things railroad. How about it, Groundspeak? Zephyr
  4. That's actually a pretty good idea. In some states, rest areas are few and far between. So, I'd like to know where they are. Of course, you could stop at a rest area to find out, but if you don't know where they are.... Zephyr
  5. This is a good idea. I am a big flea market fan, and knowing where they are is a big help when I'm away from home. Zephyr
  6. I suggest this particular category because landmarks can include big city depots, smaller train stations, bridges, control towers, points of observation, and even rails-to-trails locations, for example. Personally, I think trains are cool, and many of the objects from their bygone era are interesting. The safety factor and property issues may come to play here, but this can be an option. Zephyr
  7. Perhaps the term "athletic complex" may fit here. Major universities have athletic complexes consisting of a stadium, and arena, maybe soccer fields, and baseball. The one here at LSU is very impressive, but down the road in Metarie, La. is the complex of the NO Saints, just for football, but just as impressive and right next to the NO Zephyrs minor league stadium complex. My point is that many are very close to each other and for sports fans, local drawing cards. Zephyr
  8. I usually go to community exhibits or events and try to pick up some of their give-away stuff. Last summer I picked up tape measures, tourist pins, pencils, key chains, and other things I think people would want. Unless I take my granddaughter, Phoebe Snow, caching with me, I stay away from toys. Getting there is 90% of the fun, but I want to get to something beside Sponge Bob or some McBurger give away. I also try to leave some decent stuff to make it worthwhile for the next guy. Zephyr
  9. I've always been partial to Offroute.com. They've done a good job. Zephyr
  10. Try www.offroute.com. They are fast and efficient. Their prices are good, too. Zephyr
  11. One of the things I really enjoy about the Forum is the wide variety of pictures that people upload. I had to laugh at all the crazy signs people photographed, and the picture of the guy the the ATV cooling off in a stream was pretty good. My point is that I would like to see the Groundspeak people open a photographs section in the Forum. Whaddya think? Zephyr
  12. Try looking at eopinions.com or at the product ratings on Amazon.com. Anywhere where they ask for consumer feedback would be good. Worked for me. Zephyr
  13. I went to a truck stop and found a cool little dashboard carry-all. It hooks onto my glove compartment, and I just slide the gps into it. It is made by Case Logic, and costs about $5.00. Zephyr
  14. Anything that costs less than a dollar. Take a trip to your local dollar store and look around. I also like free trinkets that "they" give away-tape measures, magnets, small pins. There are tons of inexpensive and useful stuff out there, but please, no toys! Zephyr
  15. Instead of just shopping price, do some research. Go to eopinions.com and read what people have to say. Amazon.com also has user ratings and comments. Finally, http://gpsinformation.net/ contains tons of information. Good luck Zephyr
  16. Speaking of refurbs, I purchased a refurbed Sportrak Map from Offroute. com. Not only did I save a considerable amount of money, $70.00 +, but the unit has given me great coverage. No blurry screens, cracked case, or instant death. Knock on wood. Zephyr
  17. I'm always plugging OffRoute.com . They have great deals and are good about quick shipping. I've bought three things from them and they get better and better. Zephyr
  18. Actually, geocaching is an open secret. There are caches all over the place, and listed online, but very few people really know about them. At least in my area, Baton Rouge, there aren't very many cachers, and I'm always explaining what geocaching really is. Maybe I should just be quiet so we can remain an open secret. As for the "Golden Days" I suspect they lasted about a week. Zephyr
  19. Offroute.com has always done right by me. They ship really fast out of their home in Reno, Nv. Zephyr
  20. A sighting by someone like you led to the confirmation that, after over 60 years, at least one Ivory-billed Woodpecker still exists. I know zilch about birds, but this is a pretty cool happening. I suspect that the Ivory-billed woodpecker they sighted was not a bachelor, so there are probably more to be seen. Either that or he's pretty old. Anyway, we usually don't get second chances when nature is concerned, so I hope we do it right this time. Zephyr
  21. Okay, I'm the size of your average NFL offensive lineman, but that hasn't prevented me from cching. BTW, where are all those chicks who dig big dudes? Zephyr
  22. I tried the same thing last Saturday, 4/2, and had a hard time getting anything. I think the system was overlaoded, but that's just a guess. Anyway, I tried again on Monday evening and had success. The instructions weren't real clear, and I ended up trying several times. I would suggest that the guys at Groundspeak need to make this section more payable friendly. Whay make it hard for people who want to give you money? Oh, yea, I used a Visa. Zephyr
  23. What ever you do, get the money first. Trust is nice, but good business sense insures that your deal will work. Good luck. Zephyr
  24. Make sure you go to the "Options" button in your print preview. You can then indicate what you want printed on the map. It's on the abbreviated toolbar above the map. I hope that works for you because it sure works for me. If you have any other questions, you might try wading through the User Manual in the Help section. Yes, I know, easier said than done, but sometimes it helps. Good Luck. Zephyr
