Master Mariner Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 I have completed some virtual caches recently and have waited for an acknowledgement from the owner before posting a find. I notice that many virtuals are posted as finds with a comment such as "Email on its way". If the posts, with "Email on its way", are actually wrong, who should remove them - the cache owner or the poster. Doea this actually take place? Any comments? Quote
+Kitty Hawk Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 I would follow the example you've given above, then you are not in danger of forgetting to log it, if say the owner has gone on holiday. If your answer is wrong it can be sorted out later, one way or another. Quote
Deego Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Unless it says I must wait for confirmation before posting a found log, I will do both at the same time and have not had a problem yet. Quote
+Haggis Hunter Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 I always do both at the same time, if it is wrong the owner can either tell you or delete your log, you will still get a copy of the deleted log, so you won't lose what you have written to the system. Quote
+Team GPSaxophone Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 I haven't logged a virt in several months, but when I did I always posted my log then sent the email "verification" to the cache owner. The only time I ever had a log deleted was because it had a picture in it. Actually, several logs for that cache had pictures in them and the owner one day decided to delete all "spoilers". In other words, send the email verification within a few minutes of your log. If it's wrong, the owner can ask you for further proof or delete your log. Having a "find" posted on the cache while the proof of visit is being verified doesn't hurt anyone. Quote
+Dallan72 Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 I have completed some virtual caches recently and have waited for an acknowledgement from the owner before posting a find. With some virtuals you will have a very long wait if you do this as some owners don't respond to the messages / emails. Quite expected from someone who hasn't logged on for months, in which case I'd perhaps request that the cache should be archived, but some very active cachers also seem to do this for some reason.
