+MrCOgeo
As I was dropping off a travel bug I noticed a new type of log: Am I just seeing things or is this just a in development option that isn't ready for prime time? Link to comment
+º
I just tried it - nothing happened. Looks like the option is only available for your own bugs - maybe in order to transfer it to the right cache if someone messed it up. Link to comment
+MrCOgeo
Correct it is only with Travel Bugs that I own. Maybe a possible owner transfer option to transfer ownership to another cacher? It doesn't seem to be working right now as I submitted a test "Transfer" log. Well we'll just have to wait and see! Link to comment
+JoesBar
Maybe "transfer" would be used if you are sending a TB to enter a race. You mail the TB to the start line, so the miles shouldn't count. Just a guess. Link to comment
+webscouter.
Wasn't transfer so that if the bug was lost or in the wrong cache you could put it where it belonged or in an unknown location? Link to comment
+MrCOgeo
Wasn't transfer so that if the bug was lost or in the wrong cache you could put it where it belonged or in an unknown location? Well actually there is all ready an option that travel bug owners AND CACHE OWNERS for other people's bugs, can use called "Mark this bug missing" that marks the bug to an "Unknown Location" ---I am thinking this would have been a good question to ask in the "Geocaching Website" forum where the TPTB hang out most of the times. Any willing admin want to transfer this over there?--- Edited February 18, 2005 by MRCOGEO Link to comment
+fly46
Yes, but when you know that your bug is in a certain cache because it's made it all but sixty miles from it's goal and then someone takes it to friggin' west virginia and doesn't log it into the cache perhaps this allows you to move it into that cache yourself? I mean, I guess you could just log it normal, but perhaps this allows you to do it without having to log on the cache page, etc... Me? Bitter? No way! Link to comment

Sure would make it easier to show up on the cache page without going through the usual log-grab-log-place-delete procedure. Well my interest is definetly piqued! +Go JayBee
This feature will be nice for my Personal Travel Bug which I log from cache to cache.......I'm guessing that there will be a place to enter a "GCxxxx" for the transfer. I am not seeing that yet. Link to comment
+MrCOgeo
Well at least one part of the "mystery" is solved, the Today date is set and can't be changed as discussed here Still wondering about what "Transfer" does, will do? Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
attempting to transfer does give me a log " 2/23/2005 BlueDeuce transferred it to " Of course nothing actually happened that I could see. I wonder if it's to allow the transfer of ownership to another cacher. Link to comment

Jeremy
Transfer will be used for transferring ownership of travel bugs and geocaches to other users. It was never meant to be an option for cache listings and should be removed now. Link to comment

Transfer ownership, huh?, more power to the people and let the overworked "man" deal with the other fun stuff! Link to comment
