Happy Humphrey
...have a look at the Isle of Man Geocaching article in Geocaching Today , then check out the £10 return flights (from the end of March) from Manchester Airport on British Airways! (Not to mention the Liverpool Airport cheap flights - see at the end of the article). HH Quote Link to comment
Happy Humphrey
I don't receive any cash or benefits for this advertising, by the way , and I should point out that tax and charges of about £34 gets added to the £10 fare! HH Quote Link to comment
wildlifewriter
Nice article. Beautiful photography, as well. Quote Link to comment
Pengy&Tigger
All you need to find us now is somewhere over there to hire a 4x4 for £10! T Quote Link to comment
Team Ullium
Thanks HH for that interesting information and I have copied the links to my Favorites folder for careful perusal later Both Ferry ports on the UK mainland are only about a 2 to 3 hour drive away...depending on traffic and weather Quote Link to comment
Cushag
Penny and Tigger. IOM is only 33 miles by 12 miles. Although I have a vehicle I have done most of the caches here by bus and foot, bike etc. No need for a 4 x 4. I must admit though the island is full of those gas guzzling cars but most if not all have never seen a rough track, let alone the mud. Status symbols, along with the Mercedes and BMW s. Take a week or more here and breath the fresh air, see the views and eat kippers for tea. OH, and do some geocaching. Quote Link to comment
markandlynn
dadgum. My reasons for not going are all disapearing. Krsytal may get to visit her friend who is a boy after all. Thankyoufortheinfo. Can we plant a holiday cache ?? Quote Link to comment
Happy Humphrey
Can we plant a holiday cache Sorry, no hope at all! You might be able to collude in a new cache, though, as it'll be easy to meet up with any of the friendly Manx cachers. P&T: somewhere over there to hire a 4x4 for £10! ...well my son might give you a lift in his ancient Land Rover if that'll do? Otherwise there are plenty of "normal" cars for hire. Or you might find yourselves getting ferried around by local geocachers if you're lucky! HH Quote Link to comment
Laughalot
oooooo I like this idea - thanks for the info - good article and fab photos too. Cheers Laughalot Quote Link to comment
Cushag
HH. Is this another excuse for a Manx Mission 2? Mass invasion of geocachers to IOM. I am offering the occasional lift as long as it's on a Tuesday or Thursday during term time (Work Commitments). We could also organise a Film Location Tour. The Rotters Club, BBC 2 tonight was filmed on the Isle of Man, Also Waking Ned (Cache:- Don't wake Ned) and myriad other films and dramas. Quote Link to comment
Seasider
I'd thoroughly recommend it! A rental car divided by 3/4 doesn't come to much so I'd be up for a Manx Mission 2 later in the year if time allowed and anyonelse was interested. Does "The Bay" do accommodation - now that would be perfect!! Cheers! Seasider Quote Link to comment
Happy Humphrey
Seasider, Manx Mission 2? Great idea! Let me know when you're taking another break from retirement and we'll see what can be arranged. N.B. Another new Manx cache logged today...the island is starting to sink under the weight - please bring inflatable swaps... HH. Quote Link to comment
Pengy&Tigger
We are popping over from the 2nd to the 6th of April. I have just paid £143 for 2 people and car return (check out the red hot deals section of the seacat website). T Quote Link to comment
Happy Humphrey
P&T, Great! Hopefully we can meet up while you're over. Let me know if you want accommodation recommendations. Just following that little arrow --> ....... Arggghhhhhhhh! Careful on the clifftop caches, though... HH Quote Link to comment
Cushag
Sob, Sob, Sorry Penny and Tigger I will still be in England Geocaching and visiting family when you come over. I am sure HH and the other cachers will make you very welcome. Have a fun time. Are you going to try all the caches? Quote Link to comment
NIBBO
If any body is about between 25th May and 12th June I shall be on the Island. 4x4'sare not really necessary, as you would not be able to use them across country. Citroen AX with driver was good enough for Seasider last year! Quote Link to comment
